Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

Sept 30 2019
Razor: Schick Type M / Personna 74 (32)
Soap: Oz Shaving "Wicked"
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Sterling Fan shaped badger
AS/EdT: Oz Wicked
Talc:

Comments: My thoughts on the last shave proved to be the case. I dialed up the aggression on the M and had no problems with the shave. Final Shave of Schicktember, and the beginning of the October themes. I figured "Wicked" sounded pretty good for that. This morning before it got really hot, I managed to get out and participate with a couple Pokemon Go raids. Kinda fun, and got some steps in.

The Hardware: As I thought on the last shave, I dialed up the aggression on the M a bit and everything is as it was before I flipped the blade. (Note to self: Don't do that any more!)

The Software: Oz Shaving soaps are good. Comparable to Sterling in performance, a little less slick, but super good lather and appears to have a pretty wide tolerance for water. The lather was voluminous (hows that for a word) and smells great. The matching aftershave smells great too.

The Shave: With the dialup of the aggression, the performance of the blade is right back where it needs to be. Three passes were perfectly comfortable and now, after drydown, I am sitting at a solid DFS+. I would definitely consider expanding my Oz inventory. It is 'Wicked Good'!

Nice shave Rich!

My sons are jealous of your new Pokémon. They don’t get to do raids much right now.

Glad you’re enjoying the Oz Soaps. They’re honestly one of my favorite artisan soaps.

RazoRocktober

Razor: RazoRock GameChanger.84
Soap: What the Puck Orange Sunrise
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: RazoRock 400 synthetic
AS/EdT: thayers

Comments: For my first shave in October I decided to have a little fun with the name and as with Speicktember, I had a RazoRocktober Shave. Especially when I found What the Puck is a RazoRock product.
It’s been extra hot for the season here in Ohio the last week and no relief in sight til Friday, so I’m staying inside. It pleases me that I got rid of enough on Mom and Dads (and my own) junk that I got the Miata in the garage finally. An especially large space hog, one of my mobility scooters went to the father of a dear friend yesterday. I can now even perform some basic maintenance of the cars in the garage without opening the door. This will be great come winter time!
Experimented with saving my vlog entry at a higher resolution, my processing and upload times went a lot higher. Low res appears the way to go.

The Hardware: The GameChanger has yet to let me down for a great shave. It will be interesting to try it side by side with the Vector when it comes in. Perhaps some winds of change in the den? 🤔

The Software: What the Puck is a hard (triple milled?) soap made in Italy and the few scrapings I put in the bowl, along with some cooling agent made for an orange creamsicle Shave. The soap seems to have a wide water tolerance that I flirted with as I went for my third and forth pass. The lather started to break with the water I applied to my face. So, I must have maxed it. A rarity for me.

The Shave: No surprise here I was at bbs in three passes and the chaser pass resulted in an uncommonly great shave (dare I say grail level) In 4 passes. No alum sting and no irritation. I could get used to shaves like this.

Comments: Today’s Razor has been on standby for several shaves. Time to keep the ol’ straight shaving skills on point. My phone and iPad are now running iOS 13. Some minor changes to the production processes, but still real easy. The gal at Verizon says hold off on upgrading pending sweet promos in the pipe.

The Hardware: This is a pretty nice razor, finished on an ILR, and strapped to bejeezus. It’s treetopping sharp. The brush is a proven performer. I am really turning Oz Fanboy here lately.

The Software: Chris’ soaps perform well enough I feel protected even if I was to break out the Assured Razor. A quick load and I have tons of slickers wonderfulness

The Shave: Three Passes and SafetyCat interrupts for a quick check. satisfied, she makes a perimeter check and returns to her observation post. Alum lit me up pretty good, so I got a good to excellent shave, but paid a price. I need to practice my technique to avoid pain.

Razor: Feather AC/SS Kai
Soap: Pannacrema Nuavia Blu
Scuttle: Captains Choice

Brush: Sterling Badger
AS/EdT: Thayers Medicated

Comments: After my last evening shave my CPAP mask sealed a lot better! I may just start shaving at night. I am using Batman and will be using straights for a while to brush up my technique.

The Hardware: Of all my open blade razors in the fleet I feel most comfortable with the Batman, eliminating variables to figure out where the hitch in my giddeyup is. The brush is a proven performer. I am using Kai’s guarded blade whose name escapes me.

The Software: Pannacrema’s products are all top shelf! If you don’t have some, you need to get ahold of Santa. This stuff is amazing!

The Shave: Three Passes and I smell amazing. i judge it a neat DFS, but an even sting with the alum all over. I will bin this blade and eliminate that variable. I still ham a little rusty, but no way should I light my whole face up. I was comfortable for the whole shave, so one more shave and I’ll know if it’s me or not.

Comments: My last try of this soap was truncated to two passes. Gotta get me some more! Got some RazoRock action goin’. Got the Halloween thing goin’. SafetyCat on station. Let’s do this thing!

The Hardware: Game Changer. It’s like the Flagship of my modern DE fleet. Gillette Silver Blue.

The Software: Blue Samhai’s scent notes are Sandlewood, Burnt Sugar, Bourbon, and Pumpkin. It’s strong, it’s lasting, the neighbor lady likes it, Mama likes it, BAM it’s a hit! The Bourbon and sugar (which to me is kind of a molasses) is in front. It lathers great! Liking this soap.

The Shave: Three passes of creamy slick wonderfulness. Then the aftershave/cologne. It’s strong too. And is lasting to beat all! It’s a shame it’s an October soap. But I’ll be usin* it all winter!

Comments: trying to slip in a quick shave between games and brought out my E Schick. I didn’t put in a new blade but it felt pretty ok so went with it. As the blind hog finds his occasional acorn, so too I picked a lot of winners today in our football contest. I received in the post a bit of Pokemon kit in a Gotcha Ranger. It is supposed to help spin pokestops to get supplies so I can concentrate on hunting up my prey. I live pretty near a Poke Gym and its been farming that thing all night long! I shall not want for potions, pokeballs and whatnot.
Something has happened, and my blood pressure meds are working extra good the last couple days causing me to ‘grey out’ if I get up too fast, and I'm sleepy. I’m hoping it’s a side affect of my increased walking and perhaps we can reduce some dosage. Pokémon go is a game designed to reward you for walking, and this may be a benefit, although I will need to dig out my cane to keep from wiping out. ( dang! I had a lot to say!)

The Hardware: the Schick E type is a but more aggressive than my M with significant blade exposure. In rushing through one must be more careful with advanced techniques. I got chewed up a but trying to be quick.

The Software: Eleven soap is one I have in the locker and it rides the pine a lot. It’s an able performer with a fresh clean soapy fragrance. Kind of like a dryer sheet to my nose. I can’t fault it for tonight’s carnage.

The Shave: almost right out of the gate I caught myself in a Gillette slide. It caught some skin and I took a couple of hit points damage. Then i got myself on my chin, and a mess of weepers. Yes my brothers, I had a dumpster fire shave. This mornin* it showed on my pillow and visage as I prepared for Church. It was a pretty close shave, but not without taking a few hits.
