Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

You spend way too long. 🤪 Sorry, but you did ask!

After I shower, I load my brush or use a soap stick, face lather (almost all the time), and shave. Maybe a minute at most from the moment the brush hit the puck to the razor hitting the face. That's the performance I expect from my soaps.

Comments: A nice cool water afternoon shave. I attempted to spray paint on my yard shed using a lightweight turbine sprayer and it ended up a dumpster fire. I don’t generally like to thin down latex paint, but had to go almost 30% to get it to come out the nozzle. “Suitable for heavy bodied paints” my hinky! Got the job done though. Very excited for a Labor Day Weekend Treat! The Millersport Sweet Corn Festival is on! I do love me some Sweet Corn! And Pork Chop Sandwiches! This is an eaters fair, although they have brought back the antique tractor pull in the evening. I like watching the old single and dual cylinder tractors.

The Hardware: The Schick and the Personna Blade number 25 I think maybe starting to show the slightest hint of losing the super edge. I’m keeping an eye on it

The Software: I snuck in a little cooling agent to the soap and it’s nice and chilly and loaded with Fougerey goodness.

The Shave: I’ll take this kind of shave every time. Comfortable and close. I ran a little long in the video thinking about tonight’s activities and farm stuff. But I’m still in under 20. So I got that goin’ for me.

Razor: Schick Model M / Personna 74 Tungsten (26)
Soap: Speick stick
Scuttle: Captains Choice
Strop:
Brush: Razo-Rock 400 synthetic
AS/EdT: Speick
Talc:

Comments: Ok I had 5 ears of corn at the festival. And enjoyed the Tractor pulls. Apparently someone was there filming for a documentary or something. So there were a number of people in ridiculous costumes to attract attention (and some of them dressed that way on purpose!) I wasn’t sure if we were doing a speicktember or Schick-tember so I figured I’d do at least one such shave just to cover it.

The Hardware: The Schick and the Personna Blade At number 26 is showing a bit more blade, but I’m still not sure if it’s the blade or the soap. Razo Rocks 400 is an able performer as a face latherer.

The Software: This was the first time I’ve used Speick. I know I had it pretty dry on pass one and really never reached full slickness until pass 3. None of the passes could match the residual slickness of other soaps in my regular rotation.

The Shave: In spite of my early struggle with kinda-dry lather, Speick provided sufficient slickness for a pretty darned good shave. I like the fragrance while it’s there (seems to disappear pretty quickly) I think with some more experience, I could get to work this soap just fine. Dis at three passes

Schick and Speick-tember...good idea Rich! I can do that, except the week with the clone shavettes.

They're coming I promise. Got caught up with some house works and unexpected relatives that came into town. Trying to get them out tomorrow!

Glad you had fun at the fair Rich! That is one thing that my wife misses living in the south. We do have some Parish (what we call counties here in Louisiana) Fairs and State Fairs...but it's nothing like you guys in the north have. I LOVE watching tractor pulls and cow bingo!
