Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

Welcome back Rich! No need to apologize for anything. My wife and I have very strong emotional attachments to our fur babies as well and will be devastated when they are taken from us.

The trip sounds like a really good time and should help settle things for you. Blackmail pics are a good idea too. Have a safe trip.

Sweet pimp razor too!

Glad you’ll be on full vacation mode! Even taking a break from Keto, wow! I hope it doesn’t mess with the insides lol.

Glad to see ya back Rich! No need to explain. And yes, pictures for blackmail is a great idea. Especially when she says you can’t order that new fancy soap or razor that you’ve been eying up 😂😂😂

That look when you’re reading along and hit something that makes you double-check you’re reading the journal of mild mannered Rich

Very nearly had a SafetyCat in the sink, were it not for Buster being a little over his recommended takeoff weight. He attempted to mount the sink and failed to get enough elevation and crashed and burned. He left the Shave Station post haste. This is a routine continuation test of the Personna 74 Tungsten injector blade and it shows no sign of degradation. One shave and I will take a break. This may prove to be a lengthy test. We are starting to get excited about the upcoming cruise and SWMBO is taking some extra care in ensuring I don’t wear certain articles of clothing and they have been removed from circulation so I don’t wear them out into the garage or somesuch. Special care was also taken during our weekly grocery outing to avoid certain yummy foods that I enjoy. Apparently the aim is to ensure I go bananas at the chow line.I am counting the brief visit by Buster as a clearance for operations and am proceeding with the shave

The Hardware: ‘Jectah! Nuff Said. The Sterling is an able brush and continues to whip up an adequate lather from where I thought I had left too much water in the scuttle. The Blade appears to have settled into it’s cruising edge and it is doing just fine. Actually a bit to where I am needing a bit of variety. One more shave and I will do ten shaves non-Injector before cycling back in for set 3. I feel pretty confident it will blow through that set no problems. This would go a lot quicker if I could muster enough whiskers that I could daily shave. I might just do that and clear off the microstubble that eels out in 24 hours.

The Software: Stubble Buster appears to have quite a generous water band as I felt pretty sure I left way too much bloomwater and water in the brush to make an adequate lather. It did take some extra whipping, but it pulled it together into a satisfactory, if a bit thin lather with excellent slickness.

The Shave: Injector shaves at this point are pretty routine, I shaved on auto-pilot, although I (after watching Nurse Dave’s shave) really should start paying more attention to stretching and technique rudiments that will help when I am using open blades and more aggressive DE’s and AC type razors. I know I wont be able to do my ear-to-ear stroke with an open blade. I really probably shouldn’t be doing that anyway as it sets a bad example for less experienced shavers that watch my vids. It does add a bit of drama though. Three passes and a bit of clean-up on the residuals I am at BBS again. I could get used to this.

Putting the Injector on vacation? Oh Noooooooooos! As long as you don't forget about it for an extended period of time, I guess we can still be friends. 🤪

Have you figured out your shave kit for the cruise?

I have several sample soaps and reasonably complementary aftershaves in tiny bottles. I’m also considering doing a single soap, multi razor kit certainly including an SS, A tech, and perhaps a third player to be named as I start grabbin’ blindly at the last second. This might be an interesting chance to see if I can stop the Pre de Provence from continuing to grow In the tub. Three brushes and a salsa bowl I think should do it.

3 brushes? Oh my, you really haven't been on a cruise for a while, have you? Bring a single set-up, my friend, as space is at a premium.

I’ve only been on once, and that was in 2000. I’ve not cruised since the 20th century. A lot seems to have changed since then!

Funny, I was thinking of a response to this. As in he could take a ton of stuff but just rotate what he's taking in his Dopp kit each day. Then I had in my head an awesome picture of a small metal briefcase that when opened is like a mini bar, but with shaving supplies. One section of brushes in clips, razors on the bottom in foam cut outs. Gentlemen, we need a true travel kit.

It would be a snap to take an SS, my Travel tech and a synthetic. Then for sure stick with the sample soaps. I’m gonna defer to you guys experience on this one. We are on an inside berth that looks kinda small in the pictures. Last time we had a larger one because we had Will and that room had a pull down bunk bed.

The women were talking about hot tubs, but I keep thinking about how many people’s bottoms have been stewing in that water!
