22 Feb 19 Ghosted Arko: Game Changer trials continue

Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (11)
Razor: Razor Rock .68 Game Changer
Soap: Arko + WS23
A/S: Alpa Chypre (Chypre Oakmoss and Treemoss)
Brush: Symogue boar

Today I tried to ghostify Arko by adding a hunk of WS-23 powder to my lathering bowl. This proved a smashing success as my face is still a little chilled some 30 minutes after the shave. I have no clue whatsoever as to what the appropriate dosing is per batch of lather and only used this much because when I was transferring from the pouch to a jar, this was a clump that wouldn't break up and was laying on top. It was a little smaller than an almond in size and actually resisted breaking up until some spirited whisking took place. I found I did not use enough product of ARKO due to not blooming the puck so after going back to get more soap, I eventually got a very nice lather. The initial foam was still suitable for shaving.
The Game Changer continues to impress with the .68 plate. I am torn on which of the two plates I favor. I kind of miss the extra blade feel of the .84, but the .68 is so smoooth. Definitely I added this razor to the stable.

The Gillette Silver Blue at 11 shaves is continuing without a hiccup and should complete the month with edge to spare. I will probably keep the counter running on it after the month is over, but I crave an open bladed shave.

23 Feb 19 Ghosted PdP #63: Oz Shaving Silver Snow

Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (12)
Razor: Razor Rock .68 Game Changer
Soap: PdP #63+ WS23
A/S: PdP 63 edt
Brush: Oz Silver Snow

Today was an off-schedule shave owing to a special event. Bringing out the PdP to stunt it's growth and prevent it from taking over the soap locker. Added about half the amount of WS-23 as yesterday and it was still spectacularly chilling. I am at 20 minutes and the chill is just starting to fade. The Oz brush is turning out to be a very excellent one with it's bit of extra length and the cashmere knot. It is certainly a beauty that I need to use more often as I find I am liking synthetic brushes more and more.

The Silver Blue is finally hinting that it may be getting a little long in the tooth. Still performing comfortably, but I can detect the beginnings of loss in keenness. Three passes on maintenance (where this plate really shines) and I am at BBS. I do like the scent of #63!

Enjoying your experiments with WS-23 Rich! Very interesting and I am wondering if I need to pick some up!

Yes Rich and Don. Been looking for the powder and pricing myself but never see the amount in listings. I like the jar with powder Rich found.

Just a quick look around it looks like it is relatively inexpensive...$3.00 for 10 ml...$5.00 for 30 ml...$15.00 for 4 oz...and $45.00 for 16 oz. This particular site I am looking at appears to be liquid. So I am not sure if there is a difference or not.

I think it's cheap. I'm looking for powder like Rich's

Whoa...grams and dollar amount being thrown about? What are we talking about here!

Ecigs is where I got mine from. I got the smallest liquid ones and they were absurdly cheap. Then got the powder. My main aim was to try it in aftershave, but it’s been pretty fun in soaps.
The powder was in a plastic pouch pretty tightly packed so I found a tiny jar to transfer it into.

25 Feb 19 CBL Russian Tea - Suitable for Mammoth Painting

Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (12)
Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable Short
Soap: CBL Russian Tea
A/S: Fine Fresh Vetiver
Brush: Wooster Pro 2"
Todays brush is certainly not my least expensive brush. But it surely paints on the lather with great aplomb. I was picking up some supplies for a small project and this brush was in the bag when I got inspired. The cats were already there and had cleared the workspace for a shave so here we go! Spurred on by Nurse Dave's success with the El-Cheapo blue brush, I find the tips of the Wooster resemble the tips of a standard synthetic brush. The remainder of the brush is, as can be expected a bit stiffer. Still, it was quite easy to load and whip up a quite acceptable lather and really easy to apply the lather. The short handle that I favor for this kind of brush made it quite suitable for use as a lather applicator. This one has a rubber handle which I found quite nice too.

Three pretty uneventful passes with the Super Adj. The blade is continuing to decline in keenness, but still is performing ok as no irritation or feedback from the alum is evident. Just a bit of tugging. DFS on 3 passes.
