Rich's Journal: Adventures with Life and Sharp things

Good read and shave Rich!

Glad you have working shave setup.

Now you need to get those safety cats back inline!

Horsefeathers with the 'Jectah:
Jectah Shave Straight Shave #309
Razor: Schick type M / Chinese Injector Blade (3)
Soap: A&E Grecian Horse
Scuttle: Crown King
AS/EdT: A&E Grecian Horse
Sound track: None

The Stuff:
The Jectah of the day, Model M is one of my newer acquisition that have seen little use. It is loaded with a standard Schick blade. I'm continuing to use the Razorock 400 with the Grecian Horse get to meet for the first time.

The Shave: For some reason SafetyCat Mittens settled into the left sink! I couldn't let that opportunity go to waste so reached into the cabinet for the designated backup razor and the first soap my hand rested on in the cabinet. Working in the right sink is a little strange (like flying from the co-pilots seat) but the faucet on this side is the lesser used and seems to have a stronger flow. The A&E lathers predictably and is pretty good on the slickness and performance factors. The fragrance is a little heavy I think for summer but perhaps another couple uses I'll grow to like it more. Probably in the autumn. This is only the 3rd use with this blade, but it's already tugging worse than the blade I binned last shave. I will try again with a new blade next shave. I did get a passable shave, and it was close but not particularly comfortable. so CUS?

Comments: This was a pretty quickly thrown together shave. But I'm all for getting the Safety Crew back on track. He stayed through the lathering, but bailed. I am confident that he will be back in his regular station in no time.

Respectfully Submitted,
Rich

Let’s try that again:

Jectah Shave Straight Shave #309
Razor: Schick type M / Chinese Injector Blade (1)
Soap: B&M Cool (Sample)
Scuttle: Crown King
AS/EdT: Rich’s bootleg bay rum DFET
Sound track: None

The Stuff:
The Jectah has a new blade, and I took the aggression a click or two just in case. Mittens took his station without any comment this time and remained there for the duration. Continuing with the Razorock for use with another soap. (And it’s real comfortable for use)

The Shave: B&M soaps live up to their reputation. An almond sized snurdle yielded plenty of slickness and a frag I’m not sure I can identify. It appears a combination of a new blade and a small adjustment to the aggression made for a really great shave. Three passes and I am super smooth and approaching DFS. Comfort is easily on par with my E type. The slenderness of the handle caused some minor problems with my comfort with controlling the head. I think the E has a larger handle and may be another candidate for use during my recovery.

Comments: The diet is rockin! We had a follow up with our GP this week and she has discontinued my Metformin and one Blood pressure med! of course that means I must remain committed to the Keto lifestyle. I did however, drink an entire a Coke (way sweeter than I remembered) and it didn’t affect my blood sugar. I ain’t cured, but I think that means I can indulge myself occasionally for sanity’s sake.

AS/EdT: Rich’s bootleg bay rum DFET

What’s this?

I must remain committed to the Keto lifestyle. I did however, drink an entire a Coke (way sweeter than I remembered).
Keto is awesome. I absolutely love it. After ditching all the sugars and carbs, our tongues get desensitized to the taste. Everything seems sweeter to me. Every now and then I’ll have a Diet Coke or a Coke Zero, and for the first few sips I swear it’s regular coke.

Sorry KJ, I have a bottle of bay rums that accumulate and I dump them all into that bottle DFET is Dog From Every Town. There has to be six or seven different bay rums in there. SWMBO likes it pretty well.

Cool Thanks.

.
AWESOME!

Many, many years ago I gave up regular cokes and switched to diet, due to health concerns. Once I got that situation under control, I was looking forward to a regular coke. I had been drinking diet cokes for over a year. I took a big swig and spit it out. OH MY GOD it was sickening sweet. I've been drinking diet ever since.

I was behind Rich but enjoyed the read! Way to go on the keto stuff! You are making some serious positive changes.

Rich Tries to post a video :

DE Shave: Straight Shave #309
Razor: Gillette Tech with Fat Handle / Gillette Rubie (3)
Soap: Fine Snakebite
Brush: 24mm Bloodknot in red handle
Scuttle: Crown King
AS/EdT: Rich’s Mongoose
Sound track: None

The Stuff:
Old Tech head with Dangerous Don's fat handle combine for another run as the weather is really wreaking havoc on the paws. Fine Snake bite applied with the Bloodknot in a generic 24mm resin handle.

The Shave: A couple of weepers kept this shave from DFS. I also recorded this shave and it is in the Video section for your viewing pleasure

Comments: As this was my first try at recording any kind of video, much less editing and other fancy schmancy stuff, I posted the raw footage. I apologize in advance for the very low audio level, I don't know where the mic is on my iPad. I downloaded the first video software I saw that had a lot of stars from the Apple Store. Expect improvements as I learn more. Admins are welcome to enhance the raw footage in any way they wish.

You never know what you are going to find at Ollies!

My injector is all that I have used so far this year and I can easily foresee that this is THE way to go for me from here on out.

Congrats on the health progress being made. I've pretty much cut out beef and pork from my diet, partaking maybe 2-3 times a year; it will be hard to give up breads, rice, pasta and potatoes though. The wife thinks I'm nuts, but hey, it's not like she didn't know that already before saying "I do."

Sorry for the less than par shave...but hey...at least probiotics can be had for half off!
