Dave, that link looks like it’s people that were doing the promotional thing to hear about the club. We’ve done three types of these things. Got us decent trips to Maui twice so that was a bonus. They are “time shares” but they sell you on the idea of trading in the week you buy wherever you are for points you can use all over. We actually bought the first time on Maui and then cancelled a few days later.
I think it can be a decent deal, but you have to be the right person for it. If you’re going to keep going back to where you bought and like the property then it could be worth it. But those maintenance fees will keep going up. For us, we would use it to travel all over and sometimes they just don’t have much selection for where you want to go. We also didn’t want to be tied down to one set of companies. If we read about the best roof top pool in India being and such and such hotel, we want to be able to stay there and not be restricted if it’s not a place we can use our points.
