Razor: Tatara Muramasa

We are getting the remnants of the storm - I cannot complain we are so very fortunate - just a steady, slow rain. So I had to use one of my favorite soap/AS/EdT scents - based on one of my, if not my favorite book series - most definitely my favorite quintet trilogy
. Scent notes are - petunias, ambergris, tea, and Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster (lemon sugar). in my opinion, this is one of the best blended scents out there. The tea note is absolutely fantastic!I think the day will be spent indoors. I think I’ll actually make myself a cup of tea!
Here is a recipe for the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster - may make one of these as well!
- Take the juice from one bottle of Ol’ Janx Spirit.
- Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V — Oh, that Santraginean seawater! Oh, those Santraginean fish!
- Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzene is lost).
- Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it, in memory of all those happy hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia.
- Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones, subtle, sweet and mystic.
- Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian Suns deep into the heart of the drink.
- Sprinkle Zamphuor.
- Add an olive.
- Drink… but… very carefully…

I thought the petunias would be too floral (I do like florals - just not overly heavy. But the ambergris (which was interesting- much more expensive than ambrosia) - does to e it down and then the sweet lemon sugar ties it together. I really love the tea note here.Interesting scent combo! Sounds kinda good though!

The soap & AS are part of a four soap series that Dr Jon did that included Propaganda, Conquest, Defiance, & Strangelove. Three of the 4 soaps had two primary notes - mandarin orange & sandalwood, with each having one to two extra primary scents (Conquest - Blackberry, Defiance - Black Currant). Propaganda is my favorite - with the additional notes of vanilla, Amber, & musk. Dunhill Icon Racing Red, which is a flanker to a flanker fragrance - compliments this soap well - and hits my buttons with an abundance of citrus top notes -plus it has the Amber, musk, & tonka bean - courmarin from the bean is a fragrance element that has vanilla characteristics.
Top notes are Solar notes, Mandarin Orange, Orange, Petitgrain, Black Pepper and Grapefruit; middle notes are Fern, Geranium, Olibanum and Pepper; base notes are Cedar, Amber, Vetiver, Moss, Tonka Bean and Musk.
Dr. Jon doesn’t make Conquest, Defiance, & Strangelove anymore. I was able to get Conquest and Defiance - the former I like, the latter further emphasizes that I dislike black currant. I have been able to track down Strangelove - at Murphy & McNeil used marketplace - but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet in 6 months. I really would like it - great label and Dr. Strangelove is in my Top 3 movies of all time - but the scent notes are concrete, scorched earth, burning grass……I know this would be a soap that I would use for a cool pick and maybe 1 or 2 shaves - but not sure I would use it again. Still it would be neat to complete the series. Dr Jon is famous for its series - last Halloween it did a 3 soap series on 1950’s horror flicks.

CBL did a fantastic job - the shave stick format just is the epitome of convenience and the soap and s ent are spot-on fantastic! I truly enjoyed this shave.

. Yesterday turned out to be not what I expected. I decided to take some of my expendable cash and bought a new Apple TV because it was on sale. Not 10 minutes, after I left Costco, my son buzzes me and lets me know that his iPhone is destroyed. Now I have to say that he’s been pretty good with his electronics of late, but it was funny that just this week we were laughing about when he was younger - he bankrupted the insurance company because he kept breaking his phone. To add to the irony, I literally had just finished paying off the payment plan on my phone and was looking forward to my monthly bill going down. So I drop by the AT&T store to figure out if it was worth paying the deductible of $150 or just get a new phone, the sales person was really nice realized that there is a deduction that I hadn’t been taking so that reduce my bill and made up for adding a new phone plan rather than replacing it with the deductible. but so much for saving money this weekend. Plus I had to run up the phone to my son who is going out with his friends - I just feel safer no he’s a teenager that he can call me anytime. So such much for chill time lol.
but if that’s the worst of my problems, I’m a blessed man. have a wonderful weekend my friends!
The Apple TV is just a way too expensive for what it does - streaming box - 3 inch puck lol. But Apple tells me it is magical
