Regardless of the mishaps of the day, you started it off right with a great shave, Don!

I wouldn't start as low as 400, I normally start at about 1000 (800 should be good as well) and go up to 2500. 400 might take a little too much leather off and leave some scratch patterns that are difficult to get out with finer grit sandpapers.
Thanks for the tip. I will definitely do it that way. Do you normally sand linearly or in a spiral pattern to minimize scratch patterns?

Caught up on several shaves. Yes, I would say Russian Tea is up there in the favorite scent arena. Sounds like a nice weekend as well.

I tested how much Cella I have left today, it is about 3/8 of an inch thick. I still have a while to go before it is gone. But no worries, it is still giving me great shaves. I said last time that it is not ever going to be one of my favorites. That being said, it is still a very good soap, I have just been spoiled by exceptional ones. My top 5 would be (in no particular order) Declaration Grooming, PannaCrema, Tabac, Stirling, Barrister and Mann. Of course, that can change at any time. My shave today had plenty of slickness giving the GEM a nice skating rink for its 3 passes and leaving me with a DSBBSG. The Lucky Tiger took good care of my face after the shave and the Fine left me smelling like a million bucks. I cannot say enough good things about this boar. It is their 81156. The handle is not one of their cheap feeling plastic ones, it feels more substantial, like it is a resin. It has also broken in very nicely as well, the tips are super soft.

A la Mancha, I can't help but brag about my kids some times. They have huge hearts. Last week during VBS, they were collecting money to give to a family from our church that gave up everything they had to move to Haiti to open a clinic. My son brought us his savings jar and asked us if he could give it all to them. He had $28 in there. It was a lot for a kid who doesn't get an allowance yet. But they are constantly doing things like this and I could not be more proud.

Great shave Don...and even better job with the kids. That's always a proud moment when they act so unselfishly, and it's the unadulterated result of good parenting. Bravo, Don!

After seeing Chad use this soap, I felt the need for its awesome scent once again. It is one that would typically be described as a fall/winter scent, but it is good enough to transcend seasons. The legacy brush made short work of building the lather into something great. Like Chad said, the performance is not at the elite status, but it is still solid. The A/S goes very well with it. The scent is similar, but not as sweet. And unlike the soap, there is no denying the performance of this A/S. It is very nourishing and the scent lasts most of the day on my skin. I am considering going without the salve during the summer on the days that I am using CL. After 3 passes, I am once again DSBBSG. My go to safety razors just make this too easy. I look forward to the day that I can say that about my straights.

Nothing new going on a la Mancha. I still haven't gotten started on the rescaling of the K11. I keep wanting to get it started in the morning before everyone wakes up by removing the old pin, but in my half asleep stupor, I never think about it until it is too late. One of these days, it will get done.

Nice read Don, and I am so glad you like the C&CC as much as I do. It truly is a great scent and I agree can be used year round.

Nice shave Don...always nice to be able to go on auto pilot when necessary. I tried doing that this morning with the straight and ended up paying for it with a bit of tenderness. Thankfully no Murphy visit.

The C&CC is a great scent though, no denying that. I don't have the A/S splash, but the balm, and they did a very good job with that.

I went back to the slant today. I do love this razor. The only negative thing that I can say about it is that the balance is off. Because of the heavy stainless handle, it feels bottom heavy, so I find myself having to pay more attention to the pressure I am applying. Today, that bit me. I lapsed my concentration a bit and a little blood made an appearance. Nothing significant, but enough to remind me to pay attention. This Graydog brush has a massive handle. I love it. With my long "magician" fingers like some of you have said I have, it just feels very comfortable in my hand. And enough cannot be said about this knot. I have not tried any of the super premium knots available, but I do not know how they will get better than this. I think between this brush, the Legacy brush and my Omega, it has pretty much cured my Brush AD for now. The Stirling just performs. Nothing new there. I did test my theory from yesterday about using the CL A/S without my Lucky Tiger salve. I was right. This stuff has plenty of skin food for the summer months. Then there is this scent, it is easily one of my top 5. They only release it for a short time each year around December, but I will be picking up more this year. The scent notes according to their website are: cypress, oakmoss, cedar, vetiver, rose, geranium, juniper, bergamot, grapefruit, vanilla, benzoin, musk, patchouli. It comes together for a nice fougere scent.

A la Mancha, as some of you have noticed, I started on my rescaling project. I am not going to promise it will be quick, but I had to at least take the scales off to give me motivation to proceed with it. I am working on coming up with a design for the scales that I like. I have been thinking about making the toe end of the scales mimic the toe shape of the blade. I have not settled on that yet though.

Sorry to hear about the bite Don, but sounds like it was a good shave regardless. I used a CL AS this morning as well, and it's amazing how good my face felt afterwards. Good stuff!

Way, Way, Way behind Don! All caught up now!

Praying for your daughter! Glad to hear the cat came back!
