The Other Don...

I have only used Cella a couple of times...but I have always got great shaves from the stuff...not spectacular...but pretty darn good.

Glad the check-up went well and will you keep you and yours in my thoughts.

And I agree...It can't be all that bad with a little BBQ!

I froze myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the cold
The only thing that's real
The menthol cools my face
The old familiar sting
It eventually wore off
But I remember everything

Today, I am going to be spending most of the day outside, and since it is going to be in the 90s, I decided to go with a heavily mentholated soap. First of all, the performance, this is their Glissant base. I have always liked this base. It is very easy to get a nice slick lather. It doesn't get big and fluffy like many soaps do. This is more of the gel like consistency that many people talk about. If you are looking for a scent though, you should look elsewhere. The only thing that you can smell with this is the menthol. After 3 passes, I am DSBBS.

A la Mancha, today is a little bittersweet. The kids are finishing up their season today. It will be nice to have more choice in the weekend plans, but also a bit of a downer to not watch them play.

Have a great day everyone!

I’d kinda fallen out of listening to Johnny for a while until that song came out. Good stuff!

Great shave!

nice shave with arctique...and that's a great version of that song from Johnny. I wasn't a fan of it until he did the cover in collaboration with Trent Reznor.

Nice shaves Don and yes I understand it, and it is no worse than Chad's Algorythmic Soap Rating chart so.....

Don getting caught up. I saw on facebook that the cat got out. Glad to here the cat is safely home. Nice shaves also.

I know that most of the Legacy members were initiating their new Sorrentinos with GTB, but I don't own any, so I went another direction. I grabbed CBL's marvelous Russian Tea. It was a great choice. I just love this stuff. 2.5 pears later, I am BBS. I did find out the hard way while stropping that I need to pay attention while flipping the blade because the spine has an edge that made a scratch in the strop today.

We all have strops with scars. It's always a bummer to get one, but they'll buff out.

Great shave! The Tea soap sounds great!

I guess we can all be glad that our strops take one for the Murphy team more often than we do.

Nice shave with a fantastic soap. The CBL soaps are amazing performers, and Chris really nailed the scent of Russian Tea.

Thanks everyone. I need to look up the process to actually repair the strop. I think I remember using progressive sandpaper from 400 - 1000 grits, but I want to double check that to be certain.

I think I am going to lay off the straights for a few days. I want to repair the strop first. It has a few small nicks in it as well as the new scratches. I have also been getting results that are not where I want them to be. They may need to be honed. Today, I used all items that are great performers. It is hard to say a bad thing about any of these items. The injector just works. The brush is beautiful and creates an amazing lather. The soap is one of my favorites, and the scent is amazing. I followed it up with the matching AS and am smelling great right now. I am BBS after 3 passes.

A la Mancha, the last day of games went great. Both kids got hits and made big plays on the defensive side of the ball as well. I need to keep working with them so that they keep getting better. At church though, it was an interesting day. Everything from the AV equipment to the toilets decided that they wanted to stop working. With everyone that moved up though, the class was very small and manageable, which was a bit of a blessing with everything that was happening. After that, we went over to my parents' house for Sunday dinner. We ate some good food, the kids had a lot of fun, it was a good day.

Have a great day everyone.

Regardless of the mishaps of the day, you started it off right with a great shave, Don!

I wouldn't start as low as 400, I normally start at about 1000 (800 should be good as well) and go up to 2500. 400 might take a little too much leather off and leave some scratch patterns that are difficult to get out with finer grit sandpapers.
