I got this soap in yesterday and I could not wait to use it. I had previously had a sample of a different DG soap (back when they were L&L) and ever since I used it up, I have missed it. I spun open the tub of this stuff as soon as I got it. The SOS off of the tub was faint, only a 1.5 out of 5, but it was glorious. This morning when I went to lather it, the scent was more prevalent, probably a 3 out of 5. Then I applied it, this stuff is great. Just the feel of it with the tuxedo made me want to keep lathering it on my face. I had to stop myself and start the actual shave. It was a 3 pass affair ending up with a DFS+. I think the blade is starting to dull a bit. It is a little more short lived than my normal experience with these blades. But, I am going to bin it anyways. The A/S went on and I was in heaven for a little bit. Unfortunately, with my extended lathering time, I had to hurry through the last bit and didn't get as much A/S as I normally use. So, I am sitting here without the pleasure of smelling it. I am not sure if this scent is short lived or I just didn't put enough on. I plan to figure that out soon though. If there isn't a longevity issue, I would HIGHLY recommend that everyone who likes AdP Colonia to pick this stuff up. Their interpretation is one that I may like better than the Fine version.
A la Mancha, I received an imitation ivory blank to make my first scales. I think I am going to use it to replace my Keen Kutter scales. The person who replaced them originally didn't use washers on the outside and the head has sunken into the scale. Now I just need to get my tools and some time to do it. With as much as we have going on, it probably wont be until after we come back from Denver.
