Quijote's search for BBS

Very nice shave.

Good luck with son's allergies. I hope that you find something new that works better.

Catching up, and I’m really surprised at the Nera’s weak SOS (glad now that I’ve passed on it).....and bummer about the window and your son’s allergy outbreak.
I just had a small sample of it, so it could just lost more scent than normal. I haven't seen any other reviews of it though, so I don't know.
Dang. Bad news! Darn insurance!

I hope your day today is a vast improvement!
Insurance, I know, right! No morals *cough*Dave*cough* (I guess I fall in there to)
Geez Don that is horrible on the allergies. I hope he finds relief soon. He must have been miserable.
He was. He couldn't stop scratching. I gave him the extra meds them laid down with him. I kept having to convince him not to scratch until he finally feel back to sleep.

Yeah, we are giving him Zyrtec. Will talk to the Dr. about either upping the dose or changing.

Sorry to hear about the window Don...hopefully the tape will hold up until you can get the repair done. We dealt with quite a few allergy issues with our eldest daughter when she was younger. Thankfully she's grown out of them.

Ever Ready Round Guard Shovelhead - GEM Personna
Graydog 70/30
Cella
LT VC / Barbasol Pacific Rush

This shave was great with all items that are a known quality. Not much to say other than everything performed beautifully for a 3 pass BBS. I am making a dent in the Cella, but there is a lot left. I will be at this for a couple of months of using it often before it is used up.

A la Mancha, we are only checking one bag on this trip, so space is at a premium. Because of this, I have been thinking about what I am going to take to shave with. I think I finally settled on an option that I could be happy with. I think I will take the square guard shovelhead, Stirling sythetic, Arko stick, a small tupperware with some Vanishing Cream and Fine Italian Citrus. That will be my shave for a full week. I considered leaving the Vanishing cream, but the others don't really have any skin conditioning and I may need it up there.

Good news, the tape held through both being at highway speeds and through the thunder storm. It came down pretty hard and there was some pea sized hail, but not a single drop leaked. The window will be replaced today.

Sounds like a good line up to me for your trip, minus the Arko lol. But Arko seems to work in any water type so it is a safe bet.

Glad the window will be fixed today.

Great shave today.

You should definitely take the Vanishing Cream with you on your trip.

Glad the tape held up. I hope the window doesn't cost too much.

Nice one Don. Unlike Chad, I think Arko is a great call for a travel stick...it lathers up about as easily as anything out there and will give you a quality lather.

Good call on bringing some moisturizer. As I've seen with my last few trips, water and whatever can change your shave from what you're used to at home. I'll always take every step of post shave with me to try to keep my skin from sliding downhill.

Strong work on the window patch there. Could almost be a commercial for the tape!

Thanks guys. My experience in higher altitudes leg me to believe it may be drier than here and that was the decision maker for the VC. I was an auto body tech in a former life, so I knew it would be capable if put on right. Glad I haven't lost my touch. The window will cost a little over 400, which I think is a little high, but I don't have time to go searching. If I wasn't going away, I may have been able to buy it and install it myself. I would save around 300.

WOW, lots going on in Don's Universe, catching up great reads and sorry about the window

Well, the company that waterproofed our crawlspace does annual inspections. While they did it today, they found that the dehumidifier stopped working at some point and because of that, we have mold down there. Now, because the previous owner is the one who purchased the system and did not get the humidifier from them, they do not warranty that portion. They want 1600 to install a commercial dehumidifier because a standard one will burn up. Also, if I want them to clean the mold, it triples the cost.

Oh man! That stink, literally and figuratively!

Man, sorry to hear about that. Is there any way you can get some other company to do the abatement for less?

Oh my Don.... that is really scary. Thankfully here in the drier climate we don't usually have to worry about mold as much as others in the country, but still possible to receive. I hope you get resolution and it is cost effective. Could that have been what has been causing your son's allergies to spike?

I would get another opinion on the mold abatement. Often these companies will say "mold" without explaining exactly what type of mold. Often times the don't even test to make sure it's mold at all. I had an inspector tell me once that the condo my wife and I used to own had mold. In fact, it turned out to be mildew, which is easily cleaned. Not all molds are harmful even, though I do suggest getting rid of whatever it is that is in there. I guess the point is...I would call another company and get an estimate on the mold remediation and compare services and prices. Also look to see if the company will guarantee that the mold will never come back, and if it does they will came back out at no charge. Good luck.
