Here's a nice, relaxing ambient mix for your Sunday. Hope you enjoy.


Great shave today. Returned to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements and their great seasonal release, "Cane" shave soap and splash. Fantastic scent with a sharp talc-infused peppermint and vanilla top which morphs into a vetiver, oakmoss and musk base. Excellent lather built with the Paladin "PK-47" 2-Band Select Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '61 Gillette Fatboy and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave splash and Czech & Speake "Frankincense & Myrrh" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not at all surprised that Bama was left out of the playoff this year. The loss to Vanderbilt was bad, but that TERRIBLE loss to Oklahoma weighed them down like a dead albatross around their necks.

Great shave today. Returned to Martin de Candre and their excellent "Fougère" shave soap. Fantastic scent with exceptional lather built with the Paladin "El Dorado" 2-Band Select Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '56 Gillette "Gold Tip" and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by vintage English Leather "Timberline" aftershave splash and Houbigant "Fougère Royale" EdP

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not much to report. Rainy Monday here. Warmer but will be getting another round of cold air later in the week.

Great shave today. Returned to my vintage Crabtree & Evelyn "Mysore Sandalwood" shave soap. Light but true sandalwood scent with wonderful lather built with the Zenith "B33" Boar brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '49 Gillette Executive and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by D.R. Harris "Sandalwood" aftershave splash and Elizabeth Arden "Arden Men Sandalwood" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not much to report. USPS is up to its crap again. Expecting a delivery Saturday and now it's in Saint Louis. :rolleyes:

Great shave today. Returned to Soap Commander and their excellent "Cheer" shave soap. Fantastic scent and lather built with the Paladin "Falstaff" 2-Band Select Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '49 Gillette Milord and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by Pitralon "Classic" aftershave splash and Houbigant "Fougère Royale" EdP.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Return of the cold. 36° this morning with blustery winds. Thankfully, it wont last long. Back in the 50's for the rest of the week.

Excellent scent and lather built with the Simpson "Chubby" 2 Manchurian Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '58 Gillette Super Speed and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave splash and Tom Ford "Ombré Leather" EdP.

It's "Synthwave Saturday" so here's a playlist for you. Hope you enjoy.


Great shave today. @BarberDave has had me thinking about Williams since his post on Tuesday so I broke out one of my pucks. Not sure what era this one is from but lather quality (and ease of building it) is much better than anything I've used recently (i.e. pucks bought at the local drug store before they all disappeared). No detectable scent left but, as noted, the lather was exceptional, thanks to the Simpson "Chubby" 1 Best Badger brush. Two passes (plus touch-up) with the '56 Gillette "Gold Tip" and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by William's "Aqua Velva" aftershave lotion.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: A typical steel-gray cloudy, windy Alabama winter day (yeah, I know it's not "officially" winter yet).

Great shave today. Returned to Soap Commander and their seasonal soap, "Goodwill" today. Fantastic scent with notes of cranberry and orange on a base of fir. Great lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "Cu29" Sweet Spot Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '59 Gillette "Fatboy" and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by Burberry "London for Men" aftershave balm & EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Yesterday's proper thumping of the Army Black Knights by the Midshipmen was the highlight of this college football season for me.

Fantastic scent and lather built with the Paladin "Falstaff" 2-Band Select Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the '59 Gillette "Fatboy" and I finished with a splash of Quinn's Pink Grapefruit & Orange Rind witch hazel, followed by the matching aftershave splash and YSL "L'Homme" EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not much to report. Another typical Alabama winter day. Cloudy with fog, drizzle and a light breeze. It's sort of what I picture Scotland to be like.
