Another outstanding shave this morning. Returned to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements and their excellent "Amalfi 3K" shave soap. Great AdP "Colonia" scent with incredible lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "Cu29" Sweet Spot badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Aristocrat and I finished with Acqua di Parma "Colonia" aftershave splash & EdC.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

It's "Fusion Friday" and today I'm going with a live set from New Age/Folk/World band, Shadowfax. Hope you enjoy.


Great shave with which to end the workweek. Grabbed the puck of Czech & Speake "No.88" shave soap and used it as a pre-shave for the ETHOS "Clean" unscented shave soap so I could get some decent lather along with the scent of "No.88" (the C&S soap on its own has terrible lather). Incredibly slick lather built with the Simpson "Chubby" 2 Manchurian badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Fatboy and I finished with Czech & Speake "No.88" aftershave splash & EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: So sad to hear of Bob Newhart's passing. He was one of my all-time favorite actors. :(

It's "Metal Monday" and today I'm going with a couple of classics from seminal Heavy Metal band, Black Sabbath. Hope you enjoy.



Fantastic shave this morning. Wall-to-wall Shulton "Old Spice"; soap, aftershave & cologne. Incredibly slick lather built with the Simpson "Chubby" 1 Silvertip badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with the aforementioned aftershave lotion & EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Crazy weekend. Shaved late Saturday so I skipped yesterday.

Great shave this morning. Thanks to @notveryyoung and his Bay Rum thread, I decided to go with "Tortola" soap & splash from ETHOS Grooming Essentials. Great tropical bay rum scent with incredibly slick lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "Emerald Silver" Sweet Spot badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Aristocrat and I finished with the matching skin food splash and Creed "Virgin Island Water" EdP

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: More much needed rain coming in today. Glad too. My lawn was getting brown and crunchy!

New soap/splash day with the arrival of Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements' homage to Crabtree & Evelyn's "C&E For Men" line. Great scent! Very 80's / early 90's vibe with "barbershop" elements as well with a heavy oakmoss presence along with sandalwood and patchouli.

Great scent and incredibly slick lather built with the Paladin "Falstaff" 2-band badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with the matching skin food splash and Acqua di Parma "Colonia" EdC

It's "Synthwave Saturday" so here's a live stream for your listening pleasure. Hope you enjoy.


Busy day but great shave to start the day. Returned to the vintage Shulton "Old Spice" trifecta, soap, splash and cologne. Great old school scent with incredibly thick and slick lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "Midnight Mint" Sweet Spot Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Rockwell 6S and I finished with the matching aftershave lotion and EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Not as hot but super muggy today. Think I've found myself a new barber shop. Old school. Had passed by it several times as it's next to a coffee shop I frequent. Finally decided to give it a try and really liked the results. Also stopped while I was out to pick up a new bottle of Laphroaig 10. Was getting dangerously low.

Great shave this morning. Returned to Arko and its unique scent and excellent lather built with the Simson "Chubby" 2 Super Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Fatboy and I finished with Skin Bracer "Cool Spice" aftershave splash and vintage Avon "Brisk Spice" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Slept wrong last night and have a grapefruit-size know in the lower left of my back. So bad that I eventually had to take a muscle relaxer so I'm not planning on doing much of anything the rest of the day other than sitting against a heating pad and catching up on the Olympics.

Classic Italian almond / marzipan scent with excellent lather built with the Paladin "Chief" 2-Band Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with Epsilon 03 "Amber" aftershave lotion and Acqua di Parma "Colonia Intensa" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Back finally started feeling better yesterday evening. Got caught up on the Olympics. Really excited about the female gymnastics team's chances this year.

Fantastic old school shaving cream / barbershop scent with excellent lather built with the Wild West Brushworks "Canyon" Silvertip Badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Aristocrat and I finished with the matching aftershave splash and Yves Saint Laurent "Rive Gauche" EdT.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Back of the hot and muggies today.. Gonna feel like 105° to 108°. Ready for fall.. 🥵☀️

Great scent with excellent lather built with the Riva Brushes silvertip badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Super Speed and I finished with Myrsol "Don Carlos 1972" aftershave splash and vintage "British Sterling" EdC.

The "Happy Hogan" Homefront Report: Is it just me or did July seem to drag on seemingly forever? Maybe it was the extreme heat and humidity.
