Longhaultanker Videos

I got a new load going to Nevada. As sometimes happens the truck isn’t cooperating. I’ve been sitting along side of the road, engine not running. I’ve done this stretch from Houston to Belleville Kansas at least a hundred time. I’ve got it clocked. Leave Houston with a full tank of fuel and tank up in Belleville. Well not today. But wait, the truck tells me I’ve got 27 gallons of diesel at quarter tank on the gauge. What’s going on? I call our shop manager to inform him of my “breakdown”. He tells me several trucks are having the same issue. Every Fall the fueling stations switch from summer diesel to winter diesel and the latter will foul the fuel filters, leaving the trucks stranded along side the road. This ordeal started about 0930 CT. So the call was made to our road service company. Within 30 minutes we got a dispatch notice a provider will ETA in 40 minutes. Wow, good news. Two hours later, no arrival. Come to find out the dispatched provider has no record of being dispatched. In our modern age, you understand every thing is done electronically. Incredulous! Still sitting on the shoulder of the road with a dead engine. Now our road service provider has to re-dispatch the order. I suppose the good news is Loves road service accepted the dispatch out of Abilene, Kansas. Their ETA is 88 minutes at 1345 CT. Another hour to go. I’m just glad its not blazing summer. Oh the life….

On the lighter side, by mid-week next, should have an exciting video from exotic location. Care to guess where?

You were right. As soon as I finished video mechanic showed up. Changed water separator filter but brought wrong main fuel filter. Just that kind of day. I’m rolling now.

Amazing what you can do when you keep that left door closed. What is the maximum speed your company allows the engines to achieve?
Governed at 65mph x 11 driving hours = 715 miles… and I’ll do it too! Company says 600-650 miles is a good day. I’ve good road too. Interstate 80 from York, Nebraska west. Salt Lake City only obstacle, and the truck, of course.

DOT regulations allow 11 hours drive time and 14 on-duty time. Three extra over drive time for fueling, rest areas, etc. I’ve already re-routed myself and I’ve got a plan. 🤞 I’ve never been one for frequent stopping.

No doubt. And with pretty much a straight log. Are your logs electronic?
