Longhaultanker Videos

Razor: Wacker Sheffield 7/8 barber’s notch with Coticule edge, Brush: Shavemac Americana 24mm, Soap: Martin de Candre Fougere. An excellent shave. Enjoy.

I've been a bit out of action last two weeks due to work and working on Saturdays.

Being a Sunday took time out to watch your videos. Sad to hear about the "Shoot and scoot" commenters on the channel. You could block such wise guys from coming to your channel as well.

I shave at home, in my other shave den place I've created and most work days it gets too hectic to do a straight razor shave early morning or have one after you are back late from work. And then I see you taking an assortment of razors, soaps, brushes, strops while you drive around in that huge truck That is passion for shaving at another level. Most days if I travel I would take the most dispensable double or single edge razor so that its a quick shave.

I think this level of commitment and passion to straight razor shave is something which is too awesome to criticize.

There are plenty of self professed prophets in the straight shaving world who have strong views on everything including the shape of the hones, the strop leather, old steel vs new steel and so on.

You make some great videos. Two thumbs up !!

Great shave video there "Old white guy" ;)

I have all the stuff in this shave video and tempted to replicate it this week. In fact the Dovo BL, MDC and the Simpsons Chubby 2/3 Super badger was what was on my mind when I turned 50 on 07/22, as a fitting way to enter the 50s - but bad timing / pressing work schedule and I had to settle for a Karve Overlander instead.

Always great to hear your trucking stories and see the shave while you're on the road. Have a great Sunday

I knew Jarred of The Superior Shave had shut off his comments due to some horrid things said to him. It just made sense. Shut off comments. Come to TSC to leave comments because we have a code of conduct, and a good enforcer, and a good group of fellas who will hold offenders accountable.

I like Jarrod's videos. He may be an eccentric, but he's very passionate about convex hones. I've purchased straight razors from him with a concave edge and also bought one of his plates to make a convex hone. I like his setup of the 1K synthetic from sharpening supplies, Coticule and a black ark. Maybe I will replicate the same progression and see how it goes.

That guy is a honing wizard, too bad he gets flamed a lot - but he doesn't go down either. He lands a few solid punches himself via his videos.

If you have the lapping plate then you are all set. i have a carborundum stone and that took about 4 or 5 hours to shape. He's not joking when he says that's a chore. But the harder the stone the less you ever have to revisit that plate. I'm running a Norton 4/8 as a medium and then usually a flat surgical black Ark, but i have a coticule too and of course my bodyweight in Naniwas - easy and dependable.
Shaping an Arkansas in that manner requires more patience than i have.
Since a razor is typically ground with 1 or 2 spinning wheels it makes sense to me to hone them on them too. Convex hones are the closest i can come to that.
Bill M, on here uses convex hones too and he really goes the extra mile with pasted strops and such and achieves edges that replicate a Feather DE blade.
My edges are far less keen but great to use.

Long ago i tired of cutting myself with an SR!

Very kind. Thank you.

From Salt Lake City, Utah, last night’s shave. Pro-tip from road worn straight shaver.. don’t shave with a straight razor when angry, upset, exhasperated. It will end up showing on your face, and not by expressions. My face ended up looking like I fought with my cat… and the cat won. Twelve hours uploading the video to YouTube. And I just knew my delivery today was not going to end right. But what do I know I’m the low end of the pole. There was however, a pleasant alternative closing act. No Columbus Ohio load, but a load right here in Salt Lake City to Birmingham Alabama, and I only have to haul it back to Houston. I eat dinner tonight and will go to bed a happy camper. Enjoy the bloodbath!

From Alma, Texas, I’m nearly home. A terrific shave was had last night. Next tomorrow morning. Face and head shave with my usual kind of commentary. Enjoy.

Nice vid Leon. Those that post about SR shaving and are critical, are for the most part just looking to be trolls, have no experience with Sr razors. On truth is evident your WILL cut yourself, anyone who thinks you wont, are either fooling themselves, or too stupid to realize it, I still have the occasional nick, cut, slice or sushi. Those that dont think it will happen should not use Straights. Sushi is part of the life of straight shaving, you keep on being you and the rest can do them, besides a good blood letting now and again is a good thing. Need to replace corpuscles for good blood health.. Good Job
