Are you still in Monaca?

I checked in at Monaca at 10:45 yesterday. They advised to proceed to convenient truck stop, since the layover would likely be 3-4 days. Proceeded to Loves truck stop at Hubbard / Youngstown, OH. Here I sit, but I’ve got my amenities.

If I stayed on-site at Monaca, I’d have no indoor plumbing, showers, free drinks, or food. So I’m in Hubbard.

Yeah, that would suck. Because of you, I'm starting to notice truck stops more. Was somewhere between NC and Pittsburgh when I spotted a Love's sign, and thought of you. One of these times you're around these parts, we're going to have to meet up.

This video is from Saturday early afternoon. I’m still in Hubbard, Ohio waiting for the call to go unload. As incredible as it may sound, this video took over 30 hours to upload to YouTube. It’s now Monday morning and I’m shortly headed to the shower and to shave. I shan’t be recording today, but I’ll post a picture of the gear used. Enjoy… belatedly.

Finally unloaded and on my way home. Tonight was the first opportunity to record since stopping at Hubbard, Ohio. A good shave. A nice vintage razor. Happy as a pig in slop. Enjoy.

My wife informed me she wanted to going fishing and relax this weekend on Lake Conroe. That determined my course for the day yesterday. Get home, shower and shave, get packed and a night’s sleep. I got home by 20:00, or 8:00 pm and to bed my midnight. I really didn’t want to fish, however. Wife made all the arrangement. I wanted 5 star accommodations, she wanted to get by on the cheap. She won. There’s all kind of options on Lake Conroe. So rather than fish, I brought some honing gear and spent the afternoon honing some razors from the Pennsylvania trip this past week. It’s hot, some rain and wind, but mostly hot… 95 F. I got pictures for ya.

Ok, video coming of this morning’s shave. We dumped the “tiny-house” from last night. What a POS! Still 90F at midnight last night in the bedroom. Got refund for tonight. Off to the next thing. Not quite 5 star, but such an improvement… and for only $10.00 more a night, but we had to pay for two nights. No worries. I’m still less than 40 miles from home. Wife still fishing and I’m going to hone more tomorrow pictures follow. See you on the zoom call.

The shave was one of the finest I’ve ever had. The location, not as favorable. You’ve seen from the previous posts how we moved locations and are now better situated. Now hear it in my own words.

Have you ever noticed when you shave with a well honed and very sharp razor you may well need to shave sooner than you might otherwise? Twenty-eight hours and I was ready for another. Enjoy

I wanted to made a note here. I had a shave last night, not recorded. I used the same razor as used in previous video, The Lord Barber, A. Micou. I did take it back to the stones for a refresh. Progression: Shapton Glass 8k, SG 30k, back to the Dan’s Arkansas True Hard. Same progression as Hoffritz. I worked this razor for about 40 minutes on the True Hard, after the SG30k. The shave was great, easily the best off this razor. Coming off the SG 30k the razor is going to be very sharp, very crisp. I’m still evaluating what qualities the True Hard is contributing. Perhaps a measure of comfort, less crisp. I’m not very good at evaluating those qualities. The fact that the shave was excellent gives me less pause. After all, good is good. My next shave will be with the same razor and recorded. I want y’all to compare next video with the previous.

I would love to hear some opinions on honing past your target, then coming back to the target.
