I'm home from work. It was an easy shift as far as call volume goes, but I was still stressed as hell. This isn't the place to go into detail, but I'm really frustrated by the excuses people make for not doing their jobs. Fine details aside, I have a really easy job: do what I'm told. But at the end of the day I can only control my own actions. I finished my wildland stuff, now I think it has to be looked over, then I'm pretty sure I have to take a state exam to get that certification and the associated incentive pay. As far as work goes, I just have my driver's license to work on, but that's easy to do. I was talking to one of the captains this morning and he's encouraging me to take a class that will allow me to test to be a driver/operator, which will mean that I will be driving and pumping water at fires in my future, but we'll cross that bridge later.

Same 3017 soap. I can visibly see progress, even after 2 uses. I'm assuming that this will take a lot less time than my previous 3017 attempt. I'm starting to get more scent out of the soap for some reason; it's a nice scent to my nose. I had a better go lathering too. Ultimately I overdid it a little and felt it after the last pass. Thayer's soothed the skin and Cole's Pond cooled it off. I'm barely not BBS...or BNBBS, if you will.

The song posted above is a collaboration between Mayday and Murs, and it's fantastic to my ears. There's a bunch of NSFW lyrics in their songs, but this one in particular is a reminder to be who you are; it's easy to get lost in trying to be someone you're not and it's also equally exhausting.

It's @NurseDave Nap Hour™ at Maison Duck. Not a whole lot to do today. I'll probably play video games for a couple of hours while Venessa is at work, then take her to see Star Wars because I already told her I would. I know I'm making it sound like torture, but I have a feeling we'll both enjoy it. @uacowboy tagged me to do the 54321 challenge and I'll get on that Sunday because there's a lot of stuff that I love and I need to narrow it down. I hope your Friday is going swimmingly. Thanks for reading, Cadre.

My favorite time of day!!!

Saving lives, putting out forest fires, then driving the truck and pumping water??? When do you get your cape??
Question though, as a paramedic, wouldn't you be on the waaambulance when you get called out and not the big red truck? I assume both go out to every fire tone?

I made a typo! LOL. I meant nap time. Still your favorite time of the day.

Given that I work for a fire department and have both certifications, I can opt to do either/or. I'm of the mindset that I went to paramedic school to be a paramedic so I want to be on the box, whereas other people at the department can't wait to get off the box, but staffing will almost never allow for that. Once I promote to captain, I'll never be forced to ride the box, but that's well into the future.

I need to stop into the station some day and bore you with questions.

Dude, I love talking about my job. A high school student stopped by to ask what it took to become a paramedic and I talked for like 45 minutes straight. I welcome any questions anybody might have, in real life or here.

I’ve been getting a kick out if the 54321 challenge videos. I’m looking forward to yours.

Well I guess one burning one is why would someone go through the training to be a paramedic and not want to ride in the ambulance? It would seem especially emergency medicine you need to keep active in to keep up your skills and knowledge. Although to my earlier points, there probably isn't a Paramedics of Texas calendar.

One person has been a paramedic for I think a decade, so she's ready to not have to do paramedic things all day and night. The others are lazy, the engines hardly ever move, so it's a natural fit in their minds. Seriously, people are complaining about having like 8 calls a shift...on a busy day. My first job each of the 6 trucks had 16 calls each...on a slow day. These kids don't know what busy is, and they don't know how good they have it.

Whippersnappers! My brother and I had to share a pair of shoes and were glad of it! Lol

It's my Wednesday and I'm already frustrated, but whatever. Date night went reasonably well. Dinner and a movie. I'm actually impressed by Episode 9. @Spider I see why you said the magic is back for at least this episode. The only crappy thing is I have soul crushing anxiety when I go to the movies so I stood up for a good part of the movie. Maybe it's time to go see my doctor about that again.

3017 again, but with another boar. I usually have problems with underloading when I use this brush so I compensated and I was rewarded. I needed a quicker shave so I grabbed the autopilot, which is probably a good name for it. BNBBS. I don't use Sebum Purple very often because it hardly ever pairs well, but there's nothing really stopping me today.

This is the picture you're looking for.

Rolling Oud is king today.

Just felt like a TBS day. No other reason.

I'm not entirely sure what to do today. I had a head scratching call already. It wasn't a medical mystery, I was just confused as to why this person thought their complaint was attributed to something that has nothing to do with the complaint. I'll probably pick up my Kindle and do some reading. Have a wonderful Saturday. Thanks for reading, Cadre.

Great shave, mystery complaint, and bad anxiety. Yay, Hmmm, and I hear you, brother. In the pharmacy, I get many walk ups wanting diagnosis/treatment. Most are fine, some need to be referred to specialists, like the ER! And some make you scratch your head. I recently heard that a vaccination given at our pharmacy caused muscles aches, soreness, and tiredness lasting 2-3 days. Then in an offhand manner, the patient told me of a long bike ride in a snowstorm they did that afternoon after receiving the vaccination. No correlation between several hours bicycling on slipper roads in a snow squall. Nope, blame the vaccine! And for several months now I have been dealing with mental health issues. I am looking to find a counselor, in addition to trying medication. But good help is hard to find some days. Hang in there!

That's very similar to what happened earlier. The numb arm and sharp pain when moved has nothing to do with a possible pinched nerve, it was because he didn't drink water with dinner and he was hypoxic (SpO2 was 100% on room air.) :ROFLMAO:

I know the feeling. I never really felt like I needed to handle my problems on my own, but I think I prefer it. I genuinely don't think there's a lot that can help my work anxiety because it's related to having to be on edge for exactly 24 hours at a time, sertraline did a decent job. But that social anxiety, I just don't know. I might be able to talk that one out with Venessa.

Anyways. If you ever need to talk, send me a PM.
