Just a guy who shaves.

Different no name razor, with a steel handle,... no, not stainless steel, just chrome plated steel, if I don't keep the threads lubricated I get good ol' red rust immediately.

I was given a tube of Proraso sensitive skin shave cream a couple of years ago, but I prefer much harder soap that I can put in my soap thing and lather on top of it, so I "fixed" it. 😁 I squirted it out into a bowl and let it dry out, and shaped it into a puck.

The final shape.

Started using it two days ago and the lather is fantastic!

I have a couple of those three piece razors. I like the way they shave, very similar to a Gillette Tech.

That is also a fun "hack" of Proraso. I wonder how many shaves you will get from the puck.

Todays shave;

Brains soap (see above) steel handle no name razor (see above) yellow 7 o'clock and;

This was my old man's brush, on the right, pretty much used up, it had a piece of wire wrapped around it to keep it together but it was removed before the pic.

I wrapped a bunch of rubber bands around it to squeeze it all back together.

I then put it in a jar of water and left it until the next day. I let it dry for about three months. This is the old knot and the replacement knot.

I drilled a 3/4" hole down through the center but not quite all the way through and glued in a 3/4" dowel to give it a good solid center. Then I soaked it overnight in Teak oil until it sunk.

Thanks fellas! It lived in a baggie for years, wasn't sure whether to leave it alone or try to make it useable, glad I did it, came out way better than I thought it might. :cool:

Seriously, the perfect restore for something sentimental... You kept the aged look, the design, but gave it new life to continue on in tradition. Even the bristles look befitting, nothing like a typical synth that would detract from the old world motif.

Not to get too sentimental on ya, but I think your dad would be proud. 👍

Nice work on that restoration!

Thanks. Yeah I left the cracks and character of what it is and chose that knot because it resembled the original, but now it's waterproof and a darn good brush.

He might have been proud, or he may have thought I was nuts for wasting my time on an old shaving brush! 😉
