She is here!

Our daughter Madeline was born early Thursday morning, 6lbs 5oz and 18 inches. She's a little peanut! We were discharged on Saturday afternoon and have been enjoying our time as a family of 4 since then. Our son has been wonderful with her, giving her kisses, sharing his favorite Snoopy stuffed animal and just being careful and loving. We couldn't be more blessed!

Congratulations! So glad all is well. :)

OK, I think we've waited long enough! What is it that they say at the other place? Oh yeah, picture(s) or it didn't happen. If you wish. :)

Thank you so much everyone! Needless to say it's been a period of adjustment here in our house as our son gets used to having a sibling and mom & dad begin to remember what it's like to sleep in 1 to 2 hour increments. My in-laws have been helping out this week and my parents are coming tomorrow to help for a bit too. We're lucky to have them so close!

Hello Friends, it's been a while!

Today marks my first day back at work since 8/17 - talk about a nice break. I coupled paternity leave with some PTO so I spent the last 5 weeks soaking up all the time I could with our daughter, son and wife. Going from 1 to 2 kids has definitely been a transition for all of us, but our son has been amazing and is handling it so much better than we had thought he might. Our daughter has been an easy baby so far, sleeping 3-4 hours at night regularly which allows us to get some decent sleep especially when trading off bottle duty. While the formula shortage is still causing a bit of nervousness, the worst seems to be over and we haven't had a huge issue sourcing any yet. Hopefully that continues. I'm sad to be returning to work, but at least I'm still WFH 2-3 days a week compared to the old, pre-Covid world!

In shavedom, I've killed my partially used tubs of CC 45th Parallel and TOBS Mr. Taylor over the past 5 weeks, along with a bottle of Nautica Voyage. As our temps have finally settled into full autumn mode, I moved my summer soaps into storage and pulled out my 3 "autumn" seasonals, including SW Autumn Ash, Macduff's Coast-to-Coast and B&M Amazelnut (which really will probably be used all winter.) The tub of Autumn Ash will be killed this year no doubt. Also moved my summer-leaning frags into the back of the box and pulled forward some of the colder weather ones like MJ Legend, Banana Republic Tobacco & Tonka and Halston Z14.

Looking forward to catching up with all of you over here on the TSC! Thanks for stopping by.

Yesterday was my first day back downtown at the office in almost 2 months, felt good to be back in the swing of things. Yesterday was also my wife's first day at home alone with the two kids - she definitely has the harder of our two jobs right now. On Sunday we switched my daughter off of the "top tier" gentle Enfamil on Sunday to the Kirkland brand that is quite literally 50% cheaper and it caused her feeding schedule to get all messed up and made her visibly uncomfortable and constipated. Sigh. Looks like she, like my son, has a sensitive stomach so the uber-expensive Enfamil it will be. I'm thankful that at least the formula shortage isn't as bad as it was earlier this year, although the shelves at Walmart, Target, etc. are often bare. Costco has been a saving grace for us right now.

Back downtown today, this nice and cool autumn weather has really been a welcomed change of pace since it was still in the upper 80s just a week ago!

What an adjustment. Well, fingers crossed for your wife! But as your have sung her praises - she’ll be a rockstar. Hearing about the formula shortages and costs - I guess I had it lucky with my kids!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

You couldn't have drawn up nicer weather this past weekend here in Chicagoland - there's a reason autumn is my favorite season! While we are still laying low until our daughter gets past that crucial 2 month old mark, we took quite a few walks around the neighborhood which was lovely. Saturday was the homecoming dance at the local high school, so it was fun seeing all the groups of kids taking photos in the front yards. Brought back a lot of high school memories for both me and my wife. Hard to believe it won't be all THAT long until both our son and daughter are at that age!

Shaves with Autumn Ash have continued to be great, and really enjoying the cooler weather frags as well. Don't think the tub of soap will last much past this week, and then it'll be on to Macduff's Coast-to-Coast and B&M Amazelnut.

Thanks for stopping by!

My two oldest will be planning to go to their first formal toward the end of the month…never thought I’d see that day! I wasn’t much on school festivities but I let the missus, then girlfriend drag me along of course 👍

Happy Friday Cadre, we made it!! Been a busy week at work so happy to have the weekend in sight! Not much on the docket this weekend as we're still laying fairly low until our daughter gets to 2 months old. Weather is looking mighty nice and "autumn-y" so hoping we'll be able to spend a decent amount of time outside.

The SW Autumn Ash continues to hold on and lasting a little longer than I had anticipated. No worries, it's a great soap! Really enjoying alternating between MJ Legend and Halston Z14, but threw on the last of my Spicebom Infrared sample this morning as I saw the full size pop up on Nordstrom Rack recently...it's SUCH a good cold weather frag and is exactly as good as I remember the sample being last winter. Might have to scoop it up for the holiday season...
