For the Love of Old Spice - Illini's Shave Journal

Have a fantastic Wednesday Ryan!

Send some of that milder weather here! I have to say I do enjoy a good swim - I am still looking forward to fall!
I find myself trapped in a perpetual state of longing no matter the season - in the winter (obviously) can't wait for spring, then in spring can't wait for the pool in summer, now I can't wait for the temps to drop for autumn...think the only time I don't long for the next season is autumn into winter because who wants that?!

Pictures, pictures, please. Your lawn always looks so nice. :)
Thank you Bruce, it's not perfect but it sure as hell is loads better than when we moved here in 2019!

Hard to believe it's already Monday, but here we are! Still on baby watch here over here, beginning to think she just might stay in there all the way to the scheduled c-section next Tuesday! The weekend was lowkey around here as we continue to lay low before the hospital stay, whenever it does come. Played some board games, cleaned the house, did some yard work, just a nice and productive weekend.

Work continues to plug on, the back half of last week was super rough so hoping it settles down this week. Continuing to love the shaves the Bakelite Tech is providing when coupled with my standard Lab Blue. CBL Poseidon is just about done and should only last a couple more shaves. Then it'll be onto the next 3017!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hope the week goes quickly for you my friend, great shaves, and hope that your and your family have a fantastic Monday night!
Thank you Brian!

Consistency brings perfection in shaves. 3017ing is more than a habit; it's a way of life. (y)
I was an avid 3017-er for years, then grew out a beard and when I returned to wet shaving didn't return to 3017ing. Fast forward to the last 3 or so months and I'm trying to get my stash down to under 10 soaps for a yearly rotation so began the 3017 mentality again!

We watched the last episode of Westworld Season 4 last night, and not going to lie, it was kind of depressing! I really loved season 1, was lukewarm on season 2, didn't love season 3 and this one kinda falls between 1 and 2 IMHO. Better than lukewarm, but no where near season 1. The series has explored some interesting questions around AI, sentience, etc. but also is starting to feel like the showrunners are getting a little out in front of their skis. Hopefully the final season is a return to form.

Finished up my tub of CBL Poseidon this morning, the puck gave me 36 shaves of wonderfully fresh CBL goodness, averaging 1.35g of soap per shave. Up next will be a mostly used tub of Captain's Choice 45th Parallel as I continue to move through the stash!

I need to go back and watch Westworld. I watched s1 and 2 and then forgot about it. It was a great concept, but I do remember it getting pretty dystopian and defeatist. Some good plot twists though.

All I can say is

❤️❤️Thandiwe Newton❤️❤️
Nothing more needs to be said! Except maybe ERW

Yeah seasons 3 and 4 continue down that path, a little too much for my liking I think. I'll of course watch the final season if it comes as I feel invested now, but season 1 truly was the best.

For a couple of hours overnight, I felt like Michael from this Office scene as my wife woke up with some contractions.

Wife called the doc at 2am who confirmed since it wasn't an emergency c-section they wouldn't take us until the morning anyways so might as well wait at home unless something were to progress further. Well, by 6am anything happening had stopped. And it's been fairly quiet since. Still think we're probably in the 24/48 hour countdown, but time will tell!
