As I'm sure is the case with many people on PTO, we were allowed to roll over a little extra from 2020 so now I have more than I know what to do with or was able to use during most of this year. And in a use it or lose it fashion, there are large swaths of our org taking multiple weeks off during the holidays!Week long vacay! Woohoo! Go Ryan!
We have the same problem at our office. It’s use it or lose it and we have had too much work the first three quarters of the year. Now we are scrambling to burn vaca and @GearNoir keeps wishing my vaca away so he can get to Friday. Rude.As I'm sure is the case with many people on PTO, we were allowed to roll over a little extra from 2020 so now I have more than I know what to do with or was able to use during most of this year. I've always thought that December 1 was a good date to shoot for, so I'll be doing it this weekend as well. Apparently that puts me in the minority on my street, where 3 or 4 houses started to be lit up the weekend after Remembrance Day.We'll be doing the "Christmas decorating" thing this weekend. After years of always trying to figure out when to put them up, about 4-5 years ago, we finally settled on the weekend after my Bday. Makes it a no-brainer for us and elimiates any disagreements as to whether it was still too early or not.
Thankfully I was able to convince my wife early on that it's not necessarily when they're put up but more about when they're turned on. Granted, we have a pretty simplistic set up (just lights, garland and wreaths) so it's not like we have 100 things sitting in the lawn for an extra 3 weeks if we get a nice warm weekend in early November. We'll be doing the "Christmas decorating" thing this weekend. I will admit that my wife probably had too high of expectations since he's just over 18 months old and the attention span is limited to around 10 minutes unless he's watching Toy Story. But it was still a fantastic day and bringing him outside to see our house lit up was something I'll treasure forever.Sounds like a great time Ryan! How’d the little man fair?
Thank you Brian!Sounds like a fantastic tradition my friend! I hope you and your family have a grand time
Ha! Like I was saying to Sam above, I have no issue if you want to put it outside early to take advantage of a warm weekend!....but there are also those people who have had everything not only out but turned on for weeks, which seems a little early!I've always thought that December 1 was a good date to shoot for, so I'll be doing it this weekend as well. Great weekend! Great job on the house…looks very cleanly done!Heading back to work after a holiday week off is hard. Woof. At least the pain is dulled a bit by continuing to be able to WFH and not have to commute downtown this morning! Weekend was filled with family time, both at my parents again on Saturday morning and my in-laws yesterday morning. Despite spending the mornings at the families, we had both afternoons to continue to get stuff done around the house which is always appreciated. Continued to get decorations put up around the house, did a few small wood cutting and assembly projects that my wife had on my honey-do list for ages, and still found some time at night to relax. All in, a wonderful weekend to cap-off a nice week of PTO.
Bought some new wreaths and hooked them up with some more battery powered lights to add to the second story of our house this year, and really loving how the house feels "complete" now from an exterior holiday illumination perspective
Shaves have been consistently good, and this Bic SP blade continues to deliver great shaves. Think I might use one for the February One Blade challenge in 2022. Broke out the Autumn Ash for what is probably the last time this season as once the calendar flips to December, I'll be firmly in the Christmas & spicy season. Expected to kill off this tub this autumn but looks like it'll last for one more season!
Have a great day, Cadre!
