More oppressive heat is here to stay for the next 5 or so days, which is a real bummer for the lawn. Thankfully it's been a fairly mild summer all things considered, but there are places in the lawn that receive sun just about all day long and they are really starting to check out. Doing half an inch of irrigation per week to those areas to make sure they just go dormant and don't die off, as cooler temps and wetter weather in the autumn is just around the corner.

On that autumn note, I am particularly pumped up for college football to be returning this weekend. While I don't get to watch 12+ hours of football on Saturdays like I did before marriage & kids, I'm looking forward to hearing that College Gameday theme and slowly introducing my son to my beloved sport.

Keeping the shaves nice and cool to help combat the heat. Lovely shave with MLSS Ecto Cooler, chased with Osage and Nautica Blue Sail.

Haha…maybe not sports, but I remember those pre-marriage days fondly for similar reasons 😂

Building traditions though with the boy…I like it! 👍

My favorite part is looking at the funny signs during ESPN college game day 😂
Gameday signs are the best! Hoping that it returns to something looking more "normal" this year in that respect but with the Delta stuff, who knows...

It's been years since I've been able to do the all day football thing but each and every football season I'm reminded of my bachelor days living with my buddies and watching nonstop football on both Saturdays and Sundays. The little guy was far too young last year to appreciate anything, this year he watches the TV for a bit longer so hopefully I'm able to kick-start the football obsession a little!

Hump Day! Some much needed rain rolled through the area last night, around .6 of an inch which is enough to keep the turf going during these crazy warm end-of-summertime days. Hopefully we get some more over the next few days as they're predicting the heat to break this weekend and settle down back into the low 80s.

Went with a citrus theme this morning and tried out my sample of Terre d'Hermes EdT. Wow is this a good frag. I knew I liked the smell out of the vial and I love it even more on the skin. Matches great with the mango of the CBL iColoniali. Not a cheap bottle though, so adding to the list of potential purchases in the future once I finish up some of the other bottles on the dresser. Stay cool out there, Cadre!

Welcome to the TDH fanboys club! Such a suave scent!

Another quarter inch of rain last night which is much welcomed by my lawn. Dropped the mower down one notch this morning to begin slowly bringing the grass height back down for the autumn growth season. Once the heat breaks this weekend I'm hopeful we're through the 90 degree heat for this summer and we keep towards the upper 70s low 80s. Time will tell!

Great and cold shave after a hard workout followed by an extremely hot time mowing the lawn. No menthol in the Macduffs but the ginger really felt cold regardless. Chased with AV Ice Blue and good old Michael Jordan EdC.

It's been a rough morning as I continue to watch various talking heads discuss what happened and continues to occur in Afghanistan. I am not a veteran, and I don't pretend to even begin to understand what they are going through watching this unfold at home. Nor can I relate to what it is like for those still on the ground over there. All I can say is that it is heartbreaking hearing the stories told by those who have spent the time over there, and even more so describing instances where friends have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

It isn't much, but I am keeping all of you Cadre members, active duty and veteran, in my heart and prayers right now.

I bought the soap - I thought it was at @woodpusher recommendation - I’ll have to search previous posts - but since he’s Canadian I’ll give him credit. Ginger check! Maple check! Booziness check check check!

and what a great shave! Finishing off with aqua Velva bravo!

by the way considering that you had only one frag and now you have like 500 LOL I think your wife is also secretly a frag head - and is approving all these new colognes! 🤪

Definitely unique combo of scents that just work really well together - don't think I've had anything that smells quite like it! Good stuff.

Thankfully the Michael Jordan EdC was purchased years ago and lived in the bottom of a shave den bin for just about its entire life! The total count is at 7 now and definitely not approved to go above that since she made a comment a couple of weeks ago that there wasn't any more room on the dresser!

On a brighter note, it's Friday Cadre! We just about made it. Not a lot on the agenda this weekend except getting much of our house ready for a couple local painters who are painting a bedroom, hallway, entryway and kitchen. The wife is super excited. Paint is not something that makes a huge difference to me so I'm fairly indifferent. Happy wife, that whole thing. Hoping to wrap up work soon and head to our neighborhood pool before dinner - it's normally fairly quiet around then which is good for the little guy.

Another great shave and, in keeping with my Spain theme from the LEA soap, threw on some spritzes of the new Phantom EdT from Paco Rabanne. Got this one on a sample card in the mail from Macy's. I'm no frag head, but I have sampled just about everything our local Ulta and Sephora offer on tester strips now and I can see why this release is getting panned by frag heads. It definitely feels like a generic mishmash of everything popular right now, including Invictus bubblegum sweetness, heavy citrus and even some blue aquatic notes. There's also just something really synthetic about it. Which is really saying something since I'm a self-proclaimed lover of MJ EdC and Nautica Blue Sail! I'm sure it'll sell well, it doesn't smell bad by any stretch. But I like to think even at my age I'm a little past who this is really intended for. Hell, I love Grey Flannel so this is clearly not in my wheelhouse. But I'm glad I got to sample it regardless!

That’s up for debate! 🤪

just be young at heart - you can pull it off!

Great shave my friend and have a spectacular weekend. For me, it’s the end of August which is the ”watch the Phils season implode” time of year. 😂

There’s a lot of that mishmash, same ‘ol-same ‘ol stuff going around with newer frags. Seems like you have to pay top dollar for something different and stand out or be willing to court some classics.
