Down in the Heart of Texas!

Congrats on the laundry room! The Dragonsbeard aftershave is so vanilla heavy that any vanilla based frag would probably go well with it. I found Memoirs of a Trespasser from Imaginary Authors to be a near perfect follow up that that AS.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will be sure to check that out.

Sweet about the laundry room. Missing basic functions can make a lot of inconvenience.
I did not think it would be a big deal, but man was it annoying at times.

Nice stuff Pat, but am I the only one that got that "She" was so happy to have "Her" laundry room now and "He" got to do the laundry 😂 😂 😂
You are correct Dave, and she even called me yesterday to see how the washer and dryer were working and then got disappointed when I had not started a load yet.

She (wife) must be slicker that a top of the line soap. To pull that off.
That is a strong possibility. She does my laundry differently (imcorrectly) than I am used to doing it, so now that we have the laundry room completed I will go back to doing the majority of the laundry. She may have done it wrong on purpose.

I'm not a big fan of the vanilla, so I'll wait and see what other flavors Ethos fashions. Good performing soaps on your list, Pat.
I will say the vanilla is not very prominent in the soap, it is more noticable in the skin food. I feel like the two blend really well together, but I am eager to see what scents Ethos releases soon. The soaps I listed are my favorites so far. I have a few others that I feel perform really well, but are not scents that I can sit and smell all day. There are still quite a few soaps that I have not acquired yet that I am really looking forward to trying.

Pre-shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff

Razor: Dovo BQ 5/8 & VanderHagen DE

Blade: VanderHagen (1)

Brush: Yaqi Rainbow Synthetic

Bowl: PAA Scuttle

Soap: Col. Conk Bay Rum

Aftershave: Osma Alum & Stirling Tea Tree, Witch Hazel Splash & Stirling Bay Rum Balm

Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Results:

I decided to go back to the Dovo SR today (I missed my straights) and since it was a beautiful sunny and 75 day I decided to use my Col. Conks Bay Rum soap. It has probably been about two or three months since I last used it.

This soap was pretty easy to scoop out, but it was not easy to press into my scuttle. Next time I might let it sit in a little hot water to soften it up. Pre-shave routine was pretty standard and the lather I got was pretty good. The initial lather was a little foamy so next time I will be more careful about how much water I add, but as the shave went on the lather just got better and better. I wouldn't say that the lather was as good as some of my other soaps, but for being the cheapest soap in my den, it did really well. Also, I forgot how much I love the scent of bay rum. I may have to find another bay rum soap to purchase in the future.

All in all it was a great shave and afterwards I couldn't help but wonder why I don't see a lot of people using Col. Conk soaps anymore.

CALLING ALL SR USERS:

I had to use a DE to do an XTG pass on my neck today, and I did not like doing that. I can't do an ATG pass because I will get nasty razor burn, so my question is how do y'all do an XTG pass on your neck? I never used to do one, but after doing it with my 6c I have enjoyed how smooth I can get my neck with that additional pass.

Homefront:

Everything is good here so far. I had a busy work week last week, and got a little overtime for the past two weeks which will be nice on Friday. My wife and I got to see little man and he is getting bigger. His face was a lot more full and he was actually cooperative during the sonogram. My wife thinks he is my clone, but we'll see in two months. House is coming along good and we should be done with the renovations in a month or so!

Hope y'all had a great Sunday and thank y'all for reading!

Good stuff all around.

On the SR, I use an X type stroke:
WTG on face. Chin to shoulder on neck. With a downward stroke.
XTG on face. Ear to Adams Apple. With a downward stroke.
Then ATG neck and face.

Thanks Tim! And awesome advice! I will give that a shot next shave, thank you.

Similar to Tim I do 2 passes that are between wtg/xtg and the atg/xtg and the just a couple of areas I clean up full atg. There are some videos in my vlog thread if you'd like a visual. @BarberDave has some good SR videos too

Pre-shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff

Razor: Fromm No. 72 6/8

Blade:

Brush: Je&Co. Synthetic

Bowl: PAA Scuttle

Soap: PdP No. 63

Aftershave: Osma Alum & Stirling Tea Tree, Witch Hazel Splash & PdP No. 63 Balm

Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Results:

Some of the items that I ordered had come in on Saturday so I decided to give them a shot today. I have been wanting to try PdP No. 63 and I am pretty happy I bought it! The scent is right up my alley.

The lather was okay, but I think that is on me. I think I may not have loaded the brush long enough and I did not properly hydrate it, but today the lather was very airy and dissipated very quickly. I am going to try this again tomorrow and change it up a little bit. For all of y'all that are familiar with this soap, what I did is I loaded the brush for 25 seconds and added water very sparingly at the beginning. Then I added about ten drops of water and the lather seemed to start coming together, but it continued to dissipate. There were moments where the lather was pretty slick, but it did not last very long and would dry up. If y'all have any suggestions on how I should do things differently, please let me know.

Homefront:

All is good here in Howe, TX. Should be done putting up sheetrock on Wednesday, then texture and painting should be done on Friday. Deadline is first week of April so fingers crossed we get it done in time that way we can relax and take our time setting up the baby's room.

Thank y'all for reading and I hope y'all have a great Monday!

I'll try to do a video using it tomorrow to show as it's been too long since using and LOVE the scent. Not the best later but very acceptable when got correct. Water may be the variable (hard or soft not the amount) Don't be afraid to OVER load it as it is triple milled and will last forever anyway.
