Down in the Heart of Texas!

BUT, with the largest state capital in the United States being located in Austin, some might suggest that Austin is the heart of Texas.

BUT, with the Alamo being the most famous example of the spirit of Texans, some might suggest that San Antonio is the heart of Texas.

HOWEVER, the Permian basin is home to the richest oil fields in the great state of Texas, so some may say that Lubnock/Odessa might possibly be the heart of Texas.

Pre-shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff

Razor: Rockwell 6C R4

Blade: Personna Super (3)

Brush: AP Shave Co. Ruby SynBad

Bowl: PAA Scuttle

Soap: CBL Tonsorial Roasted Oatmeal Stout

Aftershave: Osma Alum & Stirling Tea Tree, Witch Hazel Splash

Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Results:

This is my favorite CBL soap. The scent is right in my wheelhouse, and the performance of this soap is up there with Dragonsbeard. I don't know if I added more water than I have to the other CBL soaps or what, but the lather was amazing. It was dense, slick, smooth, and provided good enough cushion that I debated switching to the R5 or R6. Now all I need to do is find a good aftershave balm and cologne to go with this soap ( and Dragonsbeard) because I want this scent to last all day long. The scent I got was oatmeal with Guinness stout beer (one of my favorite dark beers). My wife got the smell of a cinnamon roll...(I think she just wants cinnamon rolls).

All in all it was a successful 2 pass DFS+. Thank you so much @Dave in KY for generously sending me that soap! I cannot be more thannful.

Thank y'all for reading and I hope y'all have had a great Friday!

As much as I like ROS, I’ve never tried a Guinness yet, I keep forgetting to. Will it be some kind of sacrilege to have one in Hawaii if I can find it?

Not at all, but I will say it is more enjoyable in the cold. If you drink it when it is hot you will feel really heavy.

Today I really wanted to use Dragonsbeard to compare it to CBL Roasted Oatmeal Stout. The lather I get from this soap is a little different. It is not as dense, but it is more creamy and slick. The cushion seems very similar as I thought of going with the R5 after the first pass. The scents are similar and different at the same time. The only way I can describe it is both scents are rich, bold, and strong, but the actually profiles are different. I think both would fall under the category of gluttony from the seven deadly sins of shaving.

I cannot get enough of this soap and it still is my all time favorite. The Skin Food pairs perfectly with the soap as their bases are different, but really bring the entire profile of Dragonsbeard together. I am still looking for a good cologne to pair with this soap, but for now Dolce and Gabbana: The One is good enough. From the soaps that I currently have I would have to rank them as:

1. Ethos Essential Grooming- Dragonsbeard
2. CBL Tonsorial- Roasted Oatmeal Stout
3. Stirling- Baker Street
4. TOBS- Sandalwood
5. Murphy & McNeil- Trinity

Homefront:

Yesterday I was pretty absent from the Cadre all day, but the laundry room is finally finished! No more toting laundry back and forth! I cannot be more thankful to my in-laws fornhelping me finish it and it was really worth it to see how happy it made my wife. So today I will be doing laundry for the majority of the day.

I hope all of y'all have a great Sunday, and thank y'all for reading.

Congrats on the laundry room! The Dragonsbeard aftershave is so vanilla heavy that any vanilla based frag would probably go well with it. I found Memoirs of a Trespasser from Imaginary Authors to be a near perfect follow up that that AS.
