Down in the Heart of Texas!

So far I have only used the GC, but man that is an awesome razor. I'd say it is about as mild as the Gillette Tech I used the past few days, but a little bit smoother shave. I also enjoy the longer handle and added weight. It feels like a very solid razor and I can see why this is a lot of peoples daily driver. I was going to get a Tech, but the GC may just change my mind.
Your comparison between the GC .68 and the Tech are pretty spot on. That how I feel about it anyway. Love both but the .68 just has that extra special feel and weight that makes it very high in the list of favorites. I do have a prewar Tech. It was my previous favorite.

Why just one? Get both...:p

There is your C.E.C. public service announcement.

Nice shave! Not sure which base this is, I'm assuming milksteak. It's going to need a bunch of water and a little work to get some more air into the lather, and the slickness will come out. You shouldn't lose any cushion either. The GC is one of my favorite DE razors as well. Both the .68 and .84 closed comb. Paired up with either a Perma Sharp or Gillette Nacet. Awesome combos.
How different is the Nacet from the Rubie? Also thank you for trying to persuade me to buy both! I have another razor I am keeping my eye on and may pull the trigger soon! Thank you for reading and commenting!

Thank you Chris!

I have never tried the rubie, so I have no basis for comparison, unfortunately. I would put the Nacet on the slightly more sharp side of a personna blue.

Thanks Chris!

It was a blind buy for me. I did not know it was Green Irish Tweed until a few weeks later. Great set though. Have you tried the soap?

No I haven’t tried it yet. I think I sniffed it in the sample pass around though. I will probably pick it up after I finish the WSP Gaelic Tweed.

Have not updated my journal in a couple of days. I tried out a few of the TTO Vintage Gillette's before I send them out today. I really enjoyed the Slim, but I don't know if I liked it more than the Fatboy. That will probably be a razor that if I buy it, it will be because of a deal I couldn't pass up.
For today's shave I went with the Razorock SLOC that I am borrowing. I think I may have had the wrong angle or something because that was a really rough shave. I even used a Voskhod for smoothness, but that did not matter. I read that because of the open comb on the top cap and baseplate it was supposed to add slickness and glide, but it just felt really rough. The only thing that saved this shave was the soap and aftershave scent. I really enjoy this scent a lot and I am curious to see how the milksteak base differs from the one I am using right now.
One thing I will say is that I am really missing using straight razors, so the rest of the week I will be catching up on using them.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have a great day!

I'm expecting Milksteak to blow that base out of the water. Formulas have come a long way in a couple of years.

Well if USPS would update the shipping then I would know when I can compare the two bases.
I feel you. They did something, I don't even know what, with my bottle of Fine Lavender Pour Homme. The service has been more miss than hit lately.

Honestly this is the first time in have had an issue with them. Since the pandemic I have been really surprised with how efficient the shipping has been so I will wait before I decide to wield Mjolnir.

They've been pretty spot on here until recently. I'm not super interested in losing my cool over their mistakes, though. They're going through this crap just like us. I'm not gonna pee in someone's Cheerios over $20.

Guy 1: "I'll give you $20 to pee in that guys cheerios."

Guy 2: "No I can't do that...make it $50 and we got a deal."

Night shave for the day. I went with my Omega Boar to try and finally get a good lather from Mystic Water's soaps. So far there is not a soap that brush cannot get a good lather from. I am happy to announce that I finally lathered it well enough to get a quality lather. I decided to go with a face lather today and maybe that is why I was have such a problem with it before. It had a great cushion and enough slickness for a straight razor shave.
A little heavy handed with the straight today and the alum let me know it. However, I do like my new Tony Miller Strop and I am thinking I may paste my other strop. Maybe not I have not decided.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have a great Friday!
