Great shave today. Decided to go with the Tech and what a razor it is! Very smooth and irritation free shave. I like this razor a lot and may have to look on the bay for one.
I decided to use Trinity by M&M which is their Aventus clone. I really enjoy this soap and scent. The thing that really stood out to me was the quality of lather I got. I have noticed that the last few times I have used this boar brush I have gotten some awesome lather. So I think I am going to use this brush with Mystic Water's soaps and see if that can help me lather those up.

Thanks for reading Cadre and I hope y'all had a great Wednesday!

Another great shave. This soap sounded interesting so I thought I would give it a try. The scent is exactly what a new book smells like. I really like the scent a lot and if that is something you like I would highly suggest this soap. This soap performs at an elite level in my opinion, and I honestly may just buy their entire line. I am really impressed with this relatively new artisan!
The ball end Tech did another great job today as well as the Omega boar. I think I am go in my to try the Slim and then off to Mr. Kentucky the box will go!

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all had a great Thursday!

I don't know how I would feel about smelling like new books. An intriguing scent idea nonetheless.

To me it is just really fresh. Almost in the same profile as a vetiver scent.

Interesting scent lol!
What might be complimentary to it? A bookshelf scented frag?
I used Versace Eros and so far no conflicting notes! To me it is like a vetiver how it definitely has a scent, but it is mainly fresh so pairing frags isn't that difficult.

Really refreshing shave today. I love the scent of this soap and we all know about Stirling's performance. The only thing that could have made this shave better is the matching fragrance, but I am trying not to go down that rabbit hole just yet.

Homefront:

I have not been able to work on the shave den at all this week. Work has been a killer this week. Hopefully I don't have to go in tomorrow so that I can work on it all day.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all had a great Friday!

Ok...really enjoying the journal! On your last entry, you were looking for a matching frag to pair with SDM. It's based off of Creed Green Irish Tweed...which Davidoff Cool Water is also a clone of. Of course, for the price of Cool Water (it's not overly expensive like the Creed is...typical designer fragrance cost...probably $40 for a bottle), you can pick up Stirling's EdT in that scent.

Oh wow I did not know Davidoff Cool Water was based off of that. Thank you for the info!

Man what a shave today! Waited to do my shave a little later in the day so that I could use a few things that came in the mail. Ben generously sent me a few Declaration Grooming samples and Unconditional Surrender got the nod...and I ended up purchasing it. I really like the smell of this soap and the performance was pretty darn awesome too. I am going to wait to evaluate it because I do believe there are some elements that are not captured as well through samples, but my initial thoughts are high Tier 1. I'll share a few things I thought about during the shave. 1. It has elite level cushion. It was like a cloud was on my face. 2. It does not have elite level slickness, but very good slickness. So this is sort of like B&M Excelsior, but the opposite. Still a wonderful scent and great great performance.
I also got a two razors loaned to me by a friend I met on another forum. He sent me the GC .68 and the SLOC. So far I have only used the GC, but man that is an awesome razor. I'd say it is about as mild as the Gillette Tech I used the past few days, but a little bit smoother shave. I also enjoy the longer handle and added weight. It feels like a very solid razor and I can see why this is a lot of peoples daily driver. I was going to get a Tech, but the GC may just change my mind. Tomorrow I will use the SLOC and see how that does too.

Homefront:

No work today! So now that I have showered, shaved, and been lazy for a little bit it is time to run up to Lowes and finish this sink! I really want to use my shave den tomorrow so I will not be resting until it is done.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Why just one? Get both...:p

There is your C.E.C. public service announcement.

Nice shave! Not sure which base this is, I'm assuming milksteak. It's going to need a bunch of water and a little work to get some more air into the lather, and the slickness will come out. You shouldn't lose any cushion either. The GC is one of my favorite DE razors as well. Both the .68 and .84 closed comb. Paired up with either a Perma Sharp or Gillette Nacet. Awesome combos.

It was the bison base? Whatever was just before Icarus.
