Well it has been storming here off and on since yesterday afternoon, so I decided to go with a more relaxing scent. Since I have had a difficult time trying to lather MW products I feel I would give this a go.
The larger building was going really great. I could definitely see the consistency that everyone talks about and I was super excited. Then I decided to add just a little bit more water...stupid choice. I'm pretty sure I over hydrated it and the end result was frothy lather. Oh well it still worked fine. I will try again when I use the Leather and Smoke soap. I didn't want to evaluate this soap since I did not get the lather right, but before I messed it up it looked a lot like WK or A&E.
The scent is very pleasant throughout the shave and I am also really liking AP Shave Co brushes. This one is supposed to be a "Two Band Extra Dense" synthetic badger. It splayed very nice, has great backbone, and can hold a ton of lather.
Even though I messed up the lather I still had a nice shave and I am off to work. Tomorrow will be a straight razor day.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have a great Saturday!

I love Jeff's Lavender! It's probably my favorite lavender soap that I've tried.

Not much to report on yesterday's shave. I have decided that this whole week I am going to try my hardest to get up early enough to use my straight razor every day. My wife picked the soap yesterday and then I had a great shave with the Gong Razor.

Today's shave was pretty similar on performance. I really love the Master Barber base from @CBLindsay. I hope to see some more scents from this base in the near future. I went with Green Valley Links because to me it is a great summer soap and it is scented light enough that I can pair it with with just about any aftershave.
This is my second use of Clubman aftershave and I gotta say it is a good one. I love the scent and I think my face reacts very well to it.
This was my best shave with the Dubl Duck razor so far and I am happy about that. I was starting to fear that I bought a razor that I was not going to be able to use very often. But today gave me hope!

Thanks for reading Cadre and I hope y'all had a great Monday!

Nice work with the Dubl Duck.
Thanks Tim! Your HCSC sample is in the mail!

I might work on killing my Florida Water experiment and get back to what Chris intended before I bastardized his work with terrible science. :ROFLMAO: Master Barber really is awesome.
Florida Water experiment? Sounds intriguing and also I need to grab a bottle of that to try. I have been seeing it all over the Cadre lately.

I drowned my Green Valley Links puck in Florida Water for a while. I had read that people did that with Williams pucks and Aqua Velva and the like. It came out smelling like Florida Water, but the residual slickness was absolutely dead. Science!

Great straight shave today. I really think 6/8 may be my sweet spot. 5/8 is great and I love my razors that are 5/8, but 6/8 seems to take my whiskers off a lot smoother. Also this was the fastest shave with a straight I have ever done.
I wanted to highlight Stirling today because I really enjoy their products. The only issue I am having is the badger brush I have of theirs seems to be very floppy. It doesn't seem to want to distribute lather it just retains it. I have heard a lot of great things about Stirling brushes so I have come to the conclusion that I am doing something wrong, so if any of y'all with experience can give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it. I am thinking of gelling this brush as a last resort.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all had a great Tuesday!

Haven’t tried a Stirling badger yet. I do like their two-band synthetic.

Some natural hair brushes are just lather hogs for some reason. Sometimes it’s leftover solvents from manufacture...sometimes, I just don’t even know what. Maybe contact Rod directly?
