Down in the Heart of Texas!

Pat’s found the #1 spot for his elite soap list!

Its is just my opinion, and there are artisans and brands I have not yet tried. But to me af of now, Frank's base is slightly better than the ones I have tried. A close second is Chris's Master Barber.

Getting caught up. Congrats on the little one's arrival Pat!

I also had a touchdown with my SR yesterday afternoon. sporting a nice red line on my cheek lol

Pre-shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff
Razor: Dbl Duck 11/16

Brush:
WCS Honeycomb Badger
Bowl: PAA Scuttle
Soap: LNHC- Barber Shoppe
Aftershave: Osma Alum & Stirling Tea Tree, Witch Hazel, Aloe splash & LNHC Post Shave Elixer- Barber Shoppe
Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Barber Shoppe got the nod today because it fits the May Shave Theme and I wanted to re-visit it. I really enjoy the scent of this soap and the performance is really good. What really gets me is the post shave elixer from LNHC. That stuff is incredible and I feel it holds the scent really well too. I want to get another LNHC soap, but I am unsure what scent to get. I had a better shave with the straight today although I got myself in the same spot as yesterday. I didn't get to check out Dave's tutorials today so that will be tomorrow.

CALLING ALL BOWL LATHERERS:
Do y'all scoop out a set amount of soap or do y'all load from the puck and then lather in the bowl? I'm just curious how much soap y'all take out if y'all scoop it out of the tub.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all had a great Saturday!

Hey Pat.
I’ll give my $.02.
I generally scoop out about a small Lima bean size piece of soap and smear it to the side of my scuttle. Some soaps don’t require as much.

When I bowl Lather a Snurdle...... LOL about an almond size, and smoosh

Thanks guys! That is what I normally do. I take a ¼ teaspoon scoop out, but I was looking up Nuavia Rossa and it said that they reccomend taking out 3 grams which is a little more than ½ a teaspoon. So I was just curious what other bowl latherers do.

Seville got the nod today since it is super slick and fits the May shave theme. First off I have to thank @BarberDave for his youtube tutorials. So far I have watched the first 4, and they have really helped me. There is a ton of information in them and some of it I knew, some of it I forgot, but there was a lot I never knew or never thought of before. Lately since joining this forum I have been trying to create the yogurt lather. It worked when I was using my 6C and Fatboy, but not my straights. Luckily thanks to Dave I have been wrong on my lather texture these past couple of days which contributed to less than stellar shaves. Today that changed and it made a huge difference. My Dubl Duck cut through the whiskers without any trouble. Also thanks to Dave I used my non-dominant hand for the first time and that actually made my shave easier and more enjoyable. So thank you Dave for putting those up for us to use, thank you for the refresher course, and thank you for the new info/techniques I will now incorporate in my straight shaves.

Thanks for reading Cadre and I hope y'all had a great weekend!

Went with my all time favorite scent for my shave this morning because yesterday was a bummer of a day. So hopefully this is a great start to a great day...
Straight shave with the Dbl Duck went decent. I need to figure out why my chin is nearly impossible to shave without tugging. The alum hardly gives me feedback on my cheeks, but the chin always gets lit up. I felt the soap had great slickness to it especially when hydrated while on my face, but the chin just won't shave nicely. Still a great shave because everything else went smoothly and the scent is awesome.

Homefront:

So little man was born at 5 pounds 3 ounces and left the hospital at 4 pounds 13 ounces. In 2 ½ weeks he has gained 25 ounces. He is getting chunky which my wife and I are happy about. Even the pediatrician was impressed with him. Other than that life is going good!

Thanks for reading Cadre and I hope y'all have a great Tuesday!
