Down in the Heart of Texas!

I used it on setting 6 which I could definitely tell a difference on pass 2. Dropped it to setting 2 for my third pass and I came away with a DFS.
Ah, so your a fiddler when it comes to on-the-fly adjustables hm? I’ll admit, I set mine to 3 or 4 and forget about it :ROFLMAO:

Well this is my first twist adjustable razor, so I am trying to figure this out. I just knew if I left it on setting 6 for my 3rd pass then my face would be raw. My 6C I would leave on the baseplate for the entire shave, but since this one is twist adjustable I thought I would try out adjusting the setting on each pass.

Journal Entry 34

Pre-shave: Hot Shower & Jack Black's Face Buff
Razor: 1961 G2 Gillette Fatboy
Blade: Astra SP (5)
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow Synthetic
Bowl: PAA Scuttle
Soap: Noble Otter: Lone Star
Aftershave: Osma Alum & Stirling Witch Hazel, Tea Tree, and Aloe Splash & Maggard Tobacco and Leather splash
Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Results:

Today "O" is for Otter. I finally got to use my sample of Lonestar by Noble Otter, and it was another winner for me. I did not notice the residual slickness with Two Kings, but with Lonestar I really noticed it. The lather was as slick as Two Kings and had the same cushion. The scent is where this soap really separates from Two Kings. The scent notes are Lemon, Sage, Magnolia, Texas Cedar, Oakmoss, Leather, and Hay. I can definitely smell the leather and I get hints of cedar, lemon, and sage. The other notes either blend in with everything else, or I don't know what each note smells like individually. Either way this soap is definitely on the full tub list.
This was my last day with the Astra SP blade and I am really curious to see how the Fatboy does with a new blade. I had it on setting 5 for passes 1-3 and for my ATG pass I put it on setting 2. I did not feel any irritation, but the Osma and aftershave splash definitely told a different story. Next up is a Voskhod blade.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all had a good day today!

Man, that sounds good!
I thought it was a really good smelling soap that would be great to use year round. Also the performance was really good. I'd have to say performance wise it is very comparable to M&M's Aon base.
Voskhod! The Official blade of Fluffy’s DE shaves.
Curious how you find them.
I've been curious about them for a while. Dave said they are smoother than the Astra SP's so I am excited about that.

Noble Otter definitely makes a really good soap base! If I had to pick a top ten soaps...they would definitely be in it. Voskhod blades are super smooth...though I don't think they are as sharp as other blades. But I always have some Voskhod blades around.

I definitely think they would be in my top 10 as well. Thanks for reading and commenting Don!

Today I went with Proraso Red for "P" day. I was looking forward to this shave because it has been a while since I used this soap, and I always put off using this soap because i am trying other ones. Performance is great and the scent is great. I forgot to pack a Voskhod blade, but a fresh Astra SP did a great job. Stirling balm is really nice for moisturizing the face, but I feel the scent doesn't last as long as the splash. All in all a great shave!

Homefront:

I don't know if y'all could decipher my shave, but my wife and I are at the hospital. She is in labor and the baby should be here by morning! That is why I could not use the Voskhod blade today or for however long we are in the hospital.

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have a great rest of the week!
