Down in the Heart of Texas!

It doesn't match the scent obviously, but I feel it pairs extremely well.
I like pairing the soap and AS, but do acknowledge that it can be overrated, since the soap aroma fades mighty quickly. I like a splash that can double as a cologne, so the soap aroma matters little to me.

There are some where I'm not real particular about pairing, but I have to admit I love pairing soaps and aftershaves. Skin Bracer is super versatile though like a lot of the classic aftershaves.

Gotta love that Iron Throne!

I work tonight but then i also get a 3 day weekend!
Awesome! I'm just excited to sleep in until 7!

Today for the letter "J" I went with Jeff's Lavender by Mystic Water Soaps. I really enjoy the scent of this soap and the sample of Reserve Lavender paired very well. This soap turned out to be pretty thirsty which is not a bad thing, but I was not expecting it. My first pass the lather was very thin and the blade did not cut as smooth. At first I was a little bummed, but I decided to add a lot more water and then the lather exploded. Passes two and three were awesome and very enjoyable. The residual slickness on this soap is pretty incredible too. The thing that really surprised me was the post shave feel. I was not expecting my face to feel as good as it did, but even my wife noticed. I got a DFS++ and I am ready for the day! I have one other Mystic Water soap that I am saving for a later day this month and I am going to use my badger to see if that helps build the lather a bit better.
Unfortunately I was not able to go 10 days with the Gillette Silver Blue blade. To me it was just not shaving very well anymore. Up next I am going to try out the Astra SP.

Homefront:

Today my wife and I are running errands to get 100% ready for the baby. We are getting stuff to take to the hospital and a baby monitor. My wife wants a video monitor and I told her the minute I see a ghost on that monitor I am throwing it away. So we'll see how that goes.

Have a great Friday Cadre and thank y'all for reading!

Good luck letting that kid out of your sight for the first year, you won’t even need a monitor, she’ll be right next to ya :)

Today for "K" day I decided to use the WK King of Oud sample I got a few weeks ago. I have been curious about WK products for a while, but i was always nervous about buying a tub because I heard their scents are either hit or miss. For me this scent is a direct hit! Wow does it smell good. Definitely moving up near the top of my list for sure. Not only was the scent a hit, but the lather was awesome. Very creamy and very slick. It was not super dense or appear to have cushion, but I could hardly feel the blade at all. In fact today I attempted a 4 pass shave and I can say with certainty that I have no irritation. I am BBS for probably one of the first times in my shaving life!
I didn't want to buy the matching aftershave in case I did not like the scent and I have always wanted to get a good leather and tobacco scent just to have. Many of y'all recommended Avon which I do want to get, but with the current COVID pandemic I am hesitant on buying stuff from around the US right now. This aftershave is really nice though. I love the scent of it and I feel like it pairs very well with this soap!
The Astra SP was another pleasant surprise. It is a very mild razor, but for these everyday shaves it may be just the thing that I need. No weepers and no irritation on a 4 pass shave is pretty awesome for me. I am going to use it a few more times before moving on to a different blade, but if my next few shaves go like this then I can confidently say that this blade will always have a place in my den!

Homefront:

Not much going on today except setting up the baby monitor. Other than that I may piddle around the house a little bit, but no major projects!

Thanks for reading Cadre, and I hope y'all have a blessed Easter weekend!

Nice luxury shave there Pat! I consistently hear positive remarks about WK’s scents and lather. King of Oud seems to definitely be a universal favorite!

Thanks Chris! I definitely love the scent of it and the performance is up there with the best soaps I have tried.

Nice shave and read, Pat. Astra SP’s were my first 100 pack, and are still a staple in my den.
