Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

Great trip! Wild finds are always fun. Nice Avon Mug! I love those sets.

I found some stuff this weekend too. Posted about them in my latest video.
Great Wild Finds Doug!

Good shave too!
Nice shaves Doug, and outstanding finds in the wild, particularly the brush and that SuperSpeed looks to be in great shape!
Getting caught up Doug. Nice shaves and even better hunting! WOW you got some awesome finds!
Very cool finds. I hope to venture across an antique store sometime.
Those are some great finds...congrats! Oh yeah...some good shaves too!

Thanks, gents. I have had more than my fair share of luck in my antique hunting trips.

Journal Entry #73

Pre: Hot shower/splash of cool water/Shave Secret oil
Razor: K4 Gillette Travel Tech
Blade: Gillette 7O'Clock Green (2)
Brush: Semogue 1305 boar
Soap/Cream: Barrister & Mann Latha Oceana (38)
AS 1: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel
AS 2: Nivea Sensitive Cooling Post-shave Balm
AS 3: AV Ice Sport

Overview
I decided to pull out a Travel Tech that I have had for a while, but never shaved with. The short handle was an interesting experience.

Shave Quality
The lather was great. The blade was sharp. The angle was a little off at times. The short handle was a bit harder to use than I expected. It was still a good shave at two passes for BBS-.

Gear
The Tech head is wonderful. The travel handled is a little less so.

Other Thoughts
Feeling good this morning.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I just did a video with a travel tech that I haven't uploaded yet. It's funny that you pulled one out today.

Is the end anywhere close with that soap???

It is going to be a while. I need to remember to take a photo of the tub.

It occurred to me today that I have not been accounting for the weight of the tub in the calculations that I have posted previously. (Major oversight on my part. “For I am a bear of very little brain, and long words bother me.” ― A.A. Milne, The World of Winnie-the-Pooh ) But I don't have an exact measure of the tub weight. I estimate it at 39 grams, based on the starting weight of 152 grams minus 113 grams (i.e. 4oz.). So, I may finish it sooner than I have been predicting.

About to shave now. Maybe I'll get mine out. Travel Tech Tuesday

I tried a travel tech once and like you I never got comfortable with it due to the handle size. I'd rather just carry my regular tech or something else with me while I travel. Makes things more enjoyable. ?

This sounds very similar to the issues I've had with short handled razors Doug. Could never get the feel or angle right on them.

Overview
It was a Super Speed-y Wednesday shave. This razor is not my latest wild find, that one is a W4 black beauty.

Shave Quality
The Nacet was sharp and smooth. The lather was just about as good as B&M Latha gets. I went for two quick passes (WTG and XTG) as usual and came out with the usual almost BBS. There is just a tiny bit of stubble left when rubbing my face in one direction. The other directions are smooth.

Gear
I get mixed results from Super Speeds. I find them to be more aggressive and irritating than Techs. But, they are still great shavers and I have a hard time not buying them when I see them in the wild. Today's SS is an excellent shaver in great condition.

Nacets are good blades. I might buy them in bulk if I ever start running out of blades.

Other Thoughts
Remember not to rub your eyes after eating wings. This is your PSA for today.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

I am sure that if I were to put a standard ball-end handle on that Tech head the shave would be perfect. So, I agree that the handle length does make it awkward. Maybe I should look on eBay and see if I can get a bunch of loose vintage Tech handles without heads.

Good stuff Doug. I really enjoy the Nacet blades.

Also when making salsa and using habaneros and jalapenos WASH your hands BEFORE and AFTER going to the bathroom. Don't ask me how I know this.

Or grab a snazzy SS handle off of IB! I’m really enjoying their Barber Pole!

Overview
Some days you just feel like taking a chance, even if it is a small one.

Shave Quality
Today I decided to put a brand new Feather in my R41. The blade was a bit harsh in a couple of spots, but it gave me a BBS in two passes with no blood. There was a bit more alum feedback than I usually get, but nothing horrible. It was a good shave.

Gear
Feathers are decent blades, but there are smoother ones out there. Some day I will get an AS-D2 and see what that is like.

Other Thoughts
Going to see The Incredibles 2 tonight with the wife. I am looking forward to that.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.
