Doug's Journal of Shaving Happiness v2.0

If you enjoy sci-fi and can stomach the HBOified GoT scenes, you may like Altered Carbon. It’s like an HBOified Blade Runner.

Watched it on Netflix...it was pretty awesome. A very creative story line that actually works!

Overview
Received my CF order last night. It was late when I got home so I didn't take a mail call shot. I had to give it a try this morning.

I didn't expect the soap to be so soft. It loaded easily and the Tuxedo knot quickly turned it into a thick, rich lather. The scent is great. I can see why this is the Cadre's favorite. Three passes for almost DSBBS. I say almost because I was too heavy handed with the 38c today and gave myself some irritation. Other than that it was a superb shave.

Gear
This is my first Chiseled Face product and I think that I would buy more. I am glad that I bought the full sized product.

Car ownership sucks sometimes. My wife's new car (bought new in February of this year) got hail damaged on Monday of last week. Today she got the inspection done and they stopped short of totaling the car. There is damage on every body panel, but it will get fixed. Thank goodness for deductibles. Right now I am at the auto shop getting my oil changed on my 92,000 mile vehicle. It is a high mileage vehicle so there are going to be problems, but I didn't need them today. Nail in the tire (under warranty, yay!), dirty brake fluid, fraying belt. It is all stuff that I need to get done for our road trip next week, but it is kind of a bad time for this to come up. It has been a bad year for cars at our house so far this year.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my journal. I hope you have a great day and stellar shaves, Cadre.

Great stuff and glad you like the GTB. The performance is good to great and the scent is intoxicating... well for some. We had a lot of hail come through too, some people claimed the size of golf balls and silver dollars. Thankfully both of our cars were in the garage. Hopefully all the maintenance items on your vehicle don't hit the wallet too hard. Owning cars always sucks to me, mainly because they only depreciate in value.

Good to hear that the Latha puck is still going. I keep hesitating to use my Limon since once it's gone it's gone, but it smells so good I really need to use it soon. Sorry to hear about the car issues. They often seem to crop up at the worst times.

Three cheers for the G....Umm I mean just a couple of very manly grunts for GTB!!!

I hate the tightrope one has to walk sometimes with car repairs and where is that line it's cheaper to start looking at replacing it.

Hail storm paid off our Highlander 8 years ago and she still purrs right along with 170,000 miles. She's got divets all over but gets better gas mileage from the aerodynamics, just like a golf ball.

Bummer about the cars! It’s one of the things I hate about buying new...the new wears off so quickly, and through no fault of our own!

Another GTB covert, uh oh!

Thanks for all the positivity, Cadre. I really appreciate it.

Latha puck update:
It weighed in at 118 grams tonight. So, in 26 shaves I have used 34 grams of soap. That puts me at 1.3 grams per shave. If I stay at this rate it will take me 90 more shaves to finish it. I was hoping to kill it sooner than that. We will see what I can do.

Great stuff Doug, GTB is a great scent for sure. Glad the lather was excellent for you as well. Sorry to hear about the hail damage...we had the same thing happen to us about 5 years ago, 2 days after getting SWMBO's new vehicle...3k in damage later. LOL.

Today my angles were all off. The lather was great. The blade was fresh. But, I couldn't get the angle right with the Ming Shi @3. I scraped the hell out of my face. However, the irritation was gone by 11:00 leaving me DFS+

Gear
When I don't screw it up the Ming Shi is a good performer.

Happy Hump Day.

Sorry to hear about angle troubles, Doug. Thing Ming Shi is a slightly milder cousin of the Futur, which is extremely unforgiving of poor technique...having started my wet-shaving experience with the Futur, I completely commiserate!

Bummer about the car situation, Doug. And bummer about the Ming Shi.

However,

Hail storm....She's got divets all over but gets better gas mileage from the aerodynamics, just like a golf ball.

gotta laugh at that one!

Those Ming Shi Q Shave thing a majigs are crazy aggressive. If the angle is off you will pay.

Ouch, I think we've all had an off-angle day, and the can get pretty mean. Good to hear that it didn't take too long to clear up though.

A two-fer for everyone...
