Good shave Josh! Love pear scent!

BTW you still have some CBL stuff tacked on to that video. The thumbnail preview and sub heading.

Nice stuff Josh! I have used the Luxury line of Catie's Bubbles not sure if it is the cream though. I will need to look into it. I think he does make a good soap, and has been around for a long time.

And thanks for continuing to plug the Cadre! HEY don't you forget to sign up for the gift exchange this year!

Going to have to go back and look at your lathering and ingredients for this one. I don’t get elite out of the Un Jour Gris soap I have from Catie’s. It has me interested now to see.

Great shave!

Remember, this is the Luxury Cream formula, not the luxury soap formula.

Thanks Chad! This really did surprise me...I didn't have that good of an experience with the soap sample I had. So suffice to say, very happy with the purchase.

IRT the gift exchange, I have to see how things are going to go before I sign up.

Great shave!

Just some observations: Your scoring system just got a bit complex, it’s not bad, but I’m wondering if it’s going to end up basically weighted at the top again, nullifying your revamp.

I wonder this because you say Stirling, your baseline acceptable soap I think you’ve said, is 7ish. If CBL/Icarus base soaps are just above 8 and your baseline is 7; sure nothing will score 10 or really high, but it just puts everything in 7-8 range instead. I don’t think I’ve heard you review a soap yet that was worse than Stirling (I may have missed it or forgotten).

Again though, it’s your system, your thoughts and you’ve mentioned before that you enjoy soaps for what they are, not for what they aren’t. It certainly does show that it’s hard to go wrong with nearly any soap these days.

I’m not by any means a discerning man when it comes to other than the most basic soap qualities. I’d say do sweat the scoring system. I like when you talk about a soap’s properties, what the scent is like, what makes it enjoyable or come up short - I can understand that and it’s more meaningful when I am looking for the “next thing”. A scoring system does not help me as much if everything is so closely scored, I guess at that point I just need to hear - in my opinion [insert soap/soaps here] is/are not worth your time, but do take a look at [insert superior soap] - which is what you already do without the scoring.

I agree and second the motion ?

Thanks for the input guys. I realize that it's gotten a little complex, but I'll review a soap here in the near future that I know won't score as well as these soaps, and I don't enjoy as much, and you'll see the difference in scores. Something like a Pinaud Clubman soap...or Wilkinson Sword.

I am really loving your new rating scheme! Thanks for doing all these vids. I'm a little behind...but I will get there eventually!

Ooo don’t let Chris see that!

LOL...this is for the actual Pinaud soap that was produced. It's decent, and inexpensive, but not near the quality of Chris's soaps by a long shot.

Thanks Don! You aren't the only one behind on videos!

Just finished watching the video Josh. I was like you...wasn't sure if I wanted to pull the trigger on a soap that is twice as much as others and not know anything about it. It looks like an okay soap...but probably not worth the price tag unless you live in Aussy Land! Thanks for the first impressions!

No problem Don! I'll be spending the next few days with it as well, and at the end I'll be doing a review video. I'm glad I got the soap; hopefully I can dial it in a little better. If I can get it to perform as good as the lather looks, then it'll be a winner for sure. Best looking lather I've seen, and it feels as good on the face as the DG Icarus base. Just not quite there with the cushion or slickness.
