Good to hear from you Chris! Sounds like you're having a good time. I've tired to learn Guitar a few times but it never really seems to stick.

Nice update Chris and great to see you (y)
Good to hear from you. Sounds as though you explore many rabbit holes! :)
Lots of good stuff going on there Chris! Great looking setup for today’s shave.
Thanks for poppin by Chris! Glad all is well! Happy holidays!
Wow, I'll say you're livin' You're all in Chris!
Man, the horn scales on the Wacker are stunning.
Thanks, Gents!

Thanks. The guitar is starting to "click" for me. I'm enjoying it, although there is still much frustration at times.

Just dropping by to say that I'm still kickin'. Not much new in my world; still busy as ever, and that's OK.

Today, I decided to go all British and re-visit good 'ole TOBS Sandalwood. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I'm not quite sure why they called this "sandalwood", because it doesn't smell like any sandalwood I've ever encountered. But with that being said, it's still a dynamite scent that I enjoy immensely. As a matter of fact, I totally dig it! And I went all out - bar soap, shaving soap, aftershave, cologne, and deo. Love this stuff. And the Simpson Commodore X3 brush (the only Simpson brush that I have remaining - until it starts shedding, which will be inevitable - but that's for another rant) whipped up an outstanding lather for the British Aristocrat #16 to do it's job. All in all, an excellent way to start the day!

Hope all is well with everyone.

Good to see you around Chris! Yeah the TOBS Sandalwood scent is to die for in my opinion. But you are right...not really a sandalwood. Maybe there is sandalwood somewhere in there. Don't be such a stranger Chris! We all miss you!

I think we're pretty much all in agreement about the TOBS Sandalwood lol. It does smell great, but I've never caught even a hint of actual sandalwood in it.

Saturday, April 4th:

I thought that I'd drop in today. I had a very rewarding shave this morning - quite relaxing and enjoyable. My set-up was quite simple really:

GKwdFFo.jpg

Flare Tip Super Speed w/Feather; TGN boar (probably the best boar knot I've ever had); vintage Williams soap; Lubriderm 3-in-1 aftershave; and vintage Avon Wild Country Cologne. A couple of thoughts about the aftershave and the cologne:

(1) I've been looking for an unscented post shave balm/lotion to replace the now defunct Sampson's balm, and I've finally discovered one that is perfect for me: Lubriderm Men's 3-in-1 lotion. I can't remember where I heard about it, but ordered it from Amazon. It's completely fragrance-free, and I mean completely! And it is a fantastic post shave treatment in that it soothes, moisturizes, absorbs quickly, and leaves the ole mug nice and hydrated.

(2) This bottle of vintage Avon Wild Country cologne was NOS when I got it, believe it or not. After conferring with KJ yesterday, he says that this bottle is from 1970. My gosh, that's 50 years ago! (Where has the time gone?!?!). But the juice still packs a punch! Wow - just amazing. I totally dig it. I'm not a stranger to the Wild Country aftershave, but had never tried the cologne. I just love it. It's what I call a very "comforting" scent.

Real world stuff: still busy, still working, getting better at guitar, still healthy (thus far, as are my family and extended family - thankfully). The job situation is certainly a concern. I've got my fingers crossed that I can keep on keepin' on.

Best wished for all of you. Stay safe and healthy!

Good to see ya back online @cmh737! Thanks for answering my question about TGN boar knots. I asked about them awhile back in my journal, but didn’t get any response. I’ll also have to check out the Lubriderm.

Stay safe out there.

Great to hear from ya Chris! Hope you and the family are well and healthy in this mess!

Glad things are still in the positive for you Chris. Hopefully this mess will get over with soon and you can be worry free!

Thanks, Tim. And regarding the TGN boar knots: I have two of them now. The first one is a 22mm knot that I set into one of the TGN handles; and the newest one is about 24ish that I set in a Doug Korn handle. Both knots are stellar! No question that these are the best boar knots I've ever used. Just for reference, I've used about a dozen different Semogues, at least half-a-dozen Omega's, a couple of Zenith's, and the Stirling boar. The TGN knots tips are the softest - no doubt. The 22mm has quite a bit of splay, but it lathers crazy good; while the 24 doesn't have as much splay, but lathers equally good. The bristles seem to be more fine than any of the others I have/had, and have broken in the quickest. I suppose it just boils down to what characteristics one likes best in a boar. For me, the TGN boar knots are right in my wheel-house.

BTW, speaking of TGN knots - a few months back, before the crazy virus thing hit hard, I had bought a couple of TGN badger knots - a "Finest Super 2 Band", and a silvertip that I can't remember whether it was the "Silvertip Premium" or "Silvertip Grade A". I am here to tell everybody that the batch of "Finest Super 2 Band" is fantastic! My goodness, what a deal - a hidden secret, for sure.
