Time For Some Catch Up.png

I was lazy and didn't shave till Wednesday this week. The bed just felt too good to get up and shave. So I was ready for this one!

10-23-2019
Razor: Delta Echo Crimson Tide Fatboy G1 (set on 6)
Blade: Feather
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm Brair
Soap: RazoRock Acqua
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave: RazoRock Acqua After Shaving Splash
Cologne: Zcent Acqua EdP

Celebrating the Alabama Crimson Tide 35 to 13 win over the Tennessee Volunteers.

Roll Tide Roll.jpg

RazoRock-tober continues on with Acqua. A very nice nice aquatic scent with some herbs, woods, and fruits scent mixed in. Of course the Paladin had no issues whipping up a great lather.

3 passes and some clean up with the Delta Echo and the 3 plus day growth was history for a BBS+ shave. No nicks, weepers, and just the slightest hint of alum sting.

Finished with the matching splash and Zcent. A very nice shave!

Straight Razor Shave #349

Razor: Hess 44
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Black & White Synthetic Shaving Brush, Black Handle
Soap: RazoRock Santa Maria del Fiore Sapone da Barba
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave: Dove Men+Care Hydrate+ Post Shave Balm
Cologne: Zcent RazoRock Santa Maria del Fiore EdP

Santa Maria del Fiore was the scent selected for today's RazoRock-tober shave. A very nice scent that I'll describe as a Italian Colonia Tobacco scent. Whipped up a great lather with the Maggard brush as expected.

3 passes and some clean up for a BBS shave. I did manage a couple of weepers and there was some alum sting on the neck.

Finished with the Dove balm and the some of the Zscent and I'm all set to go!

Straight Razor Shave #350

Razor: Gold Dollar W59
Brush: AP Shaving Co. 24MM SynBad w/ Elegant Emerald Handle
Soap: RazoRock Tusacan Oud
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave: RazoRock Tuscan Oud After Shaving Splash
Cologne: Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa Eau De Toilette

Kinda cold here today and the Tuscan Oud was the perfect scent to continue RazoRock-tober with. A very nice oud scent that is lightened up just a little with some tobacco flower notes. Of course the performance was great as expected.

3 passes and some clean up wit the W59 for a BBS+ shave with some alum sting, and one pretty good weeper.

Finished with the matching splash and the a few vasilis of the Acqu Di Parma. A very nice pairing!

Someday, my friend. I take on too many learning projects at once. I'm slowly learning about cigars.
Yeah I've been learning about cigars for about 12 years or so now. I just met one of the Master Blenders/Rollers for CAO a couple of weeks ago at a Cigar Event at my lounge.
Cigars really sparked my journey into whiskey and wine. I've been enjoying a libation now and then for all of my adult life (and before ;)) but, I really just started to learn to appreciate whiskeys and wine when I got into cigars.

Ah! Before I forget. I had a Macanudo Gold a couple of weeks ago, which I enjoyed. I think I've gotten used to the mild side, so what would you recommend for the next step up from mild?

Those Moonshine cherries look yummy...😳
Oh those are dangerous! You really can't taste the alcohol at all and it's 80 proof if I remember correctly.

Any Medium or Mild/Medium bodied cigar that catches your eye would fit the bill. Have you had a Romeo e Juliette Reserve Real yet? Much more flavor that the Macanudo's IMHO. A Montecristo would be a good choice also. A nice experiment to do is to get a Rocky Patel Vintage 1990, Vintage 1992, Vintage 1999, Vintage 2003, and a XEN by Nish. According to Rocky's General Manager, all the Vintages have the same binder and fillers, just the wrapper is different. Then the XEN has the same wrapper as the 1999, but the binder and filler are different. This way you can easily see what a huge difference the wrapper makes, but what a small difference the binder and filler make, even though they make up 95% of the cigar.
Backing ‘Bama this weekend! Home field has to help. I have family in Aniston.
I hope you are right. I think it's going to be a high scoring game if Tau is up to snuff. If he isn't playing or not playing well, I just don't know.
Anniston is about 2½ hours Southeast from me.

The RazoRock-tober theme continues with No. 888. A nice eucalyptus scented soap. Of course the BC has no issues at all whipping up a great lather.

3 passes and some clean up with the Delta Echo for a BBS+ shave. No nicks, weepers, or alum sting. A great shave!

Finished with a good splash of the Epslion and then some spritzes of the Tuscany. Not a bad pairing at all!

Razor: M.T.C.
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Yaqi Dandelion Green Cashmere Synthetic 24mm
Soap: Italian Barber Amici
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave 1: Aqua Velva Sensitive 5 in 1 After Shave Balm
After Shave 2: Bootlegger's Bay Rum
Cologne: Terre d'Hermes EdT

Well I thought I was continuing with the RazoRock-tober theme, but this may or may not be a RazoRock soap. Anyhow at the time I grabbed it I thought it was so I'm counting it. Great performing soap regardless.

Now to the shave. This razor was given to me by a friend who is from India and recently made a trip there and brought this razor back to me. According to him it is an "India" razor. I'm not sure if it is made there or not, but it was sold in "Men's" store. This appears to be a mass produced (cheap) razor. The blade exposure is unreal for a none open comb razor. I was unsuccessful in holding a comfortable angle with this razor. It was one of the worst shaves I've had with a DE razor. I managed to give myself a really bad nick when I came in at "normal" angle, on my cheek. There were multiple weepers and some of the worst alum sting I've had in a while. Yes there was some razor burn!

Finished with some of the Aqua Velva balm to help ward off some of the razor burn and followed that with the Bootlegger's and Terre d'Hermes. At least that was a good match! I smell great!

Razor: Gillette Z2 Super Adjustable
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: RazoRock 400 Synthetic - with Noir Plissoft Knot 24 mm
Soap: RazoRock The Stallion
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave: RazoRock The Stallion After Shave Splash
Cologne: Zcent The Stallion EdP

Well I only have a few more RazoRock soaps left so I decided to continue RazoRock-tober a bit. Today's selection was Stallion. A great oud scent. Whipped up a great lather and proceeded with the shave.

Went with the Super Adjustable today to hopefully not add to the razor burn from the MTC shave. I was successful in that endeavor. # passes and just a little clean up. Not nicks, weepers, or alum sting, BBS shave.

Finished with the matching splash and EdP. I do like this scent!

Soap: RazoRock Caribbean Holiday
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave: Paladin Shaving Aftershave Balm
Cologne: Zcent Caribbean Holiday EdP

Continuting with "Extended RazoRock-tober" today scent was Caribbean Holiday. I like this scent. Performance was as expected, which is great!

3 passes and some clean up with the Wacker for a one slight weeper, no nicks, and just a slight bit of alum sting BBS shave.

Finished with the Paladin balm and a few spritzes of the Zcent.

Straight Razor Shave #352

Razor: Union Razor Cutlery Co.
Brush: Envy Shave 24mm White Supreme 2 Band Badger Alluminati Classic - Blue
Soap: RazoRock XXX Limited Edition Duro Soap
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Humphreys
After Shave: Myrsol F./Extra After Shave
Cologne: Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa EdT

Finishing up "Extended RazoRock-tober" with XXX. This scent is inspired by Acqua Di Parma Colonia Classica. I wasn't that crazy about the Acqua Di Parma scent, but I do like RazoRock's take on it. This is a limited edition Duro forumla. I'm not sure what the difference was.

3 passes and some clean up with Grandad's razor for a BBS+ shave. No nicks, one slight weeper and just a tad bit of alum sting.

Finished with the Myrsol F. and a few vasilis of the Intensa. A great pairing!
