Another "catch up" post. One of these days I'll get back to regular posting and reading of journals!!

No shave Monday or Tuesday. Got a haircut and shave after work Monday, so didn't shave that morning and didn't need to shave Tuesday.

Straight Razor Shave #234
Razor: Curtin & Clark Cutlery Co. Our Princess
Brush: Whipped Dog 24mm Synthetic
Soap: Barrister & Mann Barrister's Reserve Fern
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Barrister & Mann Barrister's Reserve Fern Aftershave Splash
Cologne: Giorgio Armani Code Eau De Toilette

I would classify the scent of Barrister & Mann's Reserve Fern as a Fougere with an earthy head note. Very Nice! Strength of scent in the tub is a good 3 of 5 and stays for the entire shave. No problems at all making an excellent lather with this great performing soap!

3 passes and some clean up. A couple of slight weepers and just a tad bit of alum sting results in a BBS shave.

Finished with the matching Splash and then a few spritzes of the Code. A good pairing IMHO.

Straight Razor Shave #235
Razor: Buck Salient #138 of 250
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 in Best Badger
Soap: Halsinger Schafmilch Rasierseife
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Don Drapper Green Aftershave
Cologne: Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme Profumo

Hadn't used a Halsinger soap in a while so I choose the Schafmilch today. Pretty much an unscented soap, just smells like soap. Performance is excellent! Easy to lather, great slickness, glide/cushion, and residual slickness. No lather stability issues.

3½ passes with the Buck. I did manage a slight nick on the chin. Nothing major, alum sealed it right up. Other than that no alum sting. A nice BBS shave.

Finished with the Don Drapper Green, good juice! Followed with a few vasilis of the Acqua Di Gio.

Straight Razor Shave #236
Razor: Buck Salient #138 of 250
Brush: RazoRock BC Silvertip Plissoft Synthetic
Soap: Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations Irish Green Tweed
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave 1: Davidoff Cool Water After Shave Balm

After Shave 2: Davidoff Cool Water After Shave Lotion
Cologne: Davidoff Cool Water Eau De Toilette

Lisa's Irish Greed Tweed caught my nose for today's soap. This is her take on Creed's Green Irish Tweed. Having never smell the Creed scent, I can't compare it, but it is a very nice scent. This is her new formula soap and it performs excellently! Used the SV method and whipped up a super lather! The strength of scent in the tub is a 2.5 of 5 and lathered opens up to at least a 3 of 5.

3 passes and some cleanup with the Buck, no nicks or weepers. Did have some noticeable alum sting though. Wasn't expecting that, must have been a little heavy handed. BBS+ shave.

Finished with the Cool Water products. Did both the Balm and Lotion just to be safe. Then followed with some spritzes of the EdT. Love this scent!

Straight Razor Shave #237
Razor: Klas Tornblom Eskilstuna
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Black & White Synthetic Shaving Brush, Black Handle
Soap: Pre De Provence No. 63
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Pre De Provence No. 63 After Shave Balm
Cologne: Pre De Provence No. 63 Pour Homme Eau De Toilette

PdP No. 63.....Need I say more? If I do you really need to give this soap a shave. Its a tipple milled soap and the scent is spectacular! Strength of scent is 2 of 5 on the puck, but opens up to 3.5 lathered. The performance is great! Love this scent!

3 passes and some clean up resulted in a BBS+ even with a couple of weepers. No alum sting to speak of.

Finished with the matching after shave and EdT. I'm smelling good!

Razor: Edwin Jagger Extra Long Double Edge Safety Razor, Chrome DEL8914BL

Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Boar Brush - 24mm
Soap: Williams Mug Shaving Soap
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Dove Men +Care Post Shave Balm
Cologne: Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa Eau De Toilette

I hadn't used the Williams in a while. Don't want to lose my Williams mojo!

SV method on the Williams resulted in an excellent lather! I mean really this is the 1[sup]st[/sup] and oldest commercially produced soap in the world and it's like $1.50 a puck. Really hard to beat! Oh and I must mention this brush and really all of the Stirling brushes. If you don't have at least one of them in your stable, get one! You won't regret it IMHO!

Really didn't need much of a shave, but I needed to be clean shaved for a family get together today. 3 very quick passes with the Edwin Jagger resulted in a BBS+ shave. No alum sting, nicks or weepers. A great shave!

Finished with the Dove balm and then a few vasilis of the Acqua Di Parma.

Straight Razor Shave #238
Razor: Union Razor Cutlery Co. (Granddad's Razor)
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm Brair
Soap: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Wholly Kaw King of Oud After Shave Splash
Cologne: Dolce & Gabbana The One EdP

What a great soap! Performance is excellent and the Scent, if you like Oud, you'll love this! Strength of scent is a 3 of 5 in the tub and 4 of 5 lathered. A great soap like this deserves a great brush so I grabbed the Paladin.

3 passes and some cleanup with Granddad's razor and I'm BBS. No alum sting and one slight weeper.

Finished with the matching splash and then a few vasilis of The One. A great paring!

Straight Razor Shave #239
Razor: Union Razor Cutlery Co. (Granddad's Razor)
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Disruptor Synthetic
Soap: A. J. Murray Kentucky Bourbon
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Booster Barber Shop Classic Cigar Bar After Shave Lotion
Cologne: Cremo Bourbon & Oak EdC

New soap maker today, A.J. Murray. This is supposed to be a bourbon scent, but really all I get is caramel and mocha. I do like it, but I've never smelled a bourbon that smells like this. Strength of scent is a 2 of 5 and lathered opens up to a 3 of 5. I did the SV method, but I think just a damp brush would have been all that was necessary. No issues loading the brush. This is a fairly thirsty soap, and I need to use it a couple of more times to get the lather dialed in just right. Still a good lather. Slickness was great, good glide/cushion, and good residual slickness. No issues with lather stability. I think I could get the residual up some with a little more time and water.

2 passes with the straight and ATG with a DE just to test the lather with one. Mr. M. showed up literally on the last cleanup stroke on my chin. Not sure what I did, but there was seepage. The alum closed it up. Other than that no alum sting.

New brand of after shave. Booster is advertised as a Canadian Barber Shop staple. This is an inexpensive after shave. About $13 for 400ml. The scent of this is very nice. A nice cigar woody tobacco with cognac. Strength of scent is mild. Face feel is great! Longevity was about 3 hours. Finished with the Cremo Bourbon & Oak, a very nice pairing!

Wow what a week of shaves!

How do you like that Cremo frag? I saw them on sale a few days ago in a body was/frag combo pack for like $7. Is it worth a buy?

I posted about those recently, surely you saw???? I liked them a lot! Especially the Burbon & Oak! And $7 is a steal!!!

I was probably skimming again or misunderstood...I know, darn kids.

All I saw was the post that you got them and liked the scent, didn’t know you had used them.

Thanks Chris!

Yes $7 is a great deal! For the price they are really good performers!

Wow Craig! Some really nice shaves there! Are you able to compare LNHC Irish Tweed with other similar scents? Some are more green than others.

I really like some of the booster products. Is this one a different formula than the past?

Good to see you on the forum again!

Only other one that comes to mind is RazoRock Irish Country Side. I'd say that Lisa's is more green and RR is more cologne like. I have not idea, 1st time I've had any of them.
Great updates Craig!
Thanks Tim!
