Thanks Jim! Spent most of it working a video for here and on another shave related project that I'm working on.

Great shave Craig. Lisa's is some really good shave soap, and I enjoy that scent.

Straight Razor Shave #165

Pre Shave: Urth Face Scrub and Wash
Razor: Clyde Twinworks 50¾
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Black & White Synthetic Shaving Brush, Black Handle
Soap: Dirty Bastard Soap Co. Freedom
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse Alum Block, and Dickson's
After Shave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue After Shave Lotion

I went and got a haircut and shave Saturday afternoon. I didn't shave Sunday or Monday. So I was jonesing for a shave and since I had been testing the Parker blade, I was jonesing for a straight shave too. This was an early evening shave.

I choose the Freedom soap. This soap is more like a cream in texture. It is unscented so it just smells like soap. Since it is cream like loading is just a few swirls of the brush. The Maggard brush had no problem whipping up a great lather. Nice and slick, good cushion/glide, excellent residual slickness, and no stability problems.
The Clyde Twinworks 50¾ had no problem mowing down the almost 3 day growth. 3 passes and just a little clean up yielded a nice BBS- with a couple of weepers. Strangely there was some pretty good alum sting on the neck. But no irritation was noticed after the shave. The after shave just had a very little burn. I really didn't notice any razor burn. With that amount of alum I was expecting some. Strange, but I'm not complaining. Guess I was a little heavy handed on the neck.

I spent most of Sunday and Monday making and the editing the Translucent Arkansas lapping video that I made. I also did some more work on the restoring the Hess 44. Getting really close on finishing it. Finished the scales and did some polishing on the blade. Just have to make the wedge now and pin it. Then it will be ready for honing and I test the surface on the Trans Ark.

Hope everyone had a Great Memorial Day Weekend!

Great shave Craig! Haven't heard of the Dirty Bastard Soap Co. but I will toss that into the soaps that I need to look into. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that scuttle!

Thanks Don! The scuttle was made by a local pottery lady. It works great!

Decided to go with a Paladin shave today. Need I say any more? These soaps and ASB are just great performers for me! The Paladin Brush...if you haven't got one yet, save up and get one!

Finished with the Cool Water combo, a nice scent for this muggy and kinda hot Spring day.

We had a Safety Stand Down at work this afternoon and they grilled chickens for lunch, very tasty! Ready to get this short week over and start the weekend.
