Well today was straight shave #199! That means after camping will be the big 200! Anyways today after a late night last night I just grabbed the William Tonsorial that I am leaving out til it's gone. I got a a very nice lather and shave. These vintage pucks are fun to use and now I am thinking of putting it back in the drawer because when it's gone... it's gone. I am really enjoying this Bay Rum also and after some of you guys said Bay Rum is indeed a summer scent I figured I would give it a go! I must say it does work!

Nope... sleep was more important.
Homefront:
Buckle up I have a referee story for ya. First today I leave work around 2 PM to head home and we hope to be on the road by 3PM ish for a 85 minute drive up the mountains to enjoy the weekend. We are going with some family who are those that drive a big motorhome and demand to have full hookups so they can watch TV at night. So the campground isn't the most ideal as it is similar to a KOA. But they do have a pool and the river is very close. So we will get some swimming in and I hope to get some river fishing in. We will probably be out of place at this campground being in the tent trailer but I don't care LOL.
Okay basketball. So yesterday as previously mentioned I did 4 games. At this tournament they have 3rd grade thru 12th grade boys and girls, the local high schools send teams usually for players to try and make a spot on the team. So the games are all pretty competitive. Being a higher ranked official I was put on one of the 3 center courts where the 10th-12th grade play. My first game was boys and it was a very competitive game that game down to the wire there was a nice dunk where the defender was definitely posterized. When something like this happens at full speed this is the hardest time as a referee to stay non-emotional. Because obviously I am a fan of the game and seeing a great play unfold just makes you want to jump up. Sadly as an official all I can do is keep a straight face and say to myself WOW!
So the best game was the last game. This went double overtime. It was a team from up north who won the 6A Girls State Championship and they were playing a team from Idaho. No clue on their history. I've said it before but I really enjoy girls games at the higher level they are VERY compe
titive and it probably helps that I coached a girls Jr high team for 5 years. I will never understand why some referees believe they are 'above' girls games and refuse to work them. So anyways I had one of the harder fouls I had seen in awhile happen. There was a steal at the top of the key and fast break going the opposite way. As the girl went up for lay up the defender from behind jumped to try and block the shot with one hand in the air and the other pushing on her back, as the player threw the a ball towards the basket the defender then took the hand they tried blocking the shot with and pushed down on her shoulder. The offensive player hit the ground and slid into the base of the basket hitting her head on the cushion but with enough force she was clearly dazed. I don't believe concussed but obviously head injuries are VERY serious and we officials take them very seriously and have actually been trained in basic first aid to assess minor injuries while we wait for emergency personnel and also to identify concussions. She was not displaying any serious symptoms. My partner and I talked and we went flagrant foul 1 which means the contact was unnecessary. We didn't upgrade to FF2 mainly because this was the first incident in the game and up to this point the game was relatively clean. I don't think the play intended to cause harm but her contact was unnecessary and it warranted the call. So I allowed the hurt player who wanted to stay in, to stay in only for her free throws. Then asked the coach for a substitute so an onsite medic could confirm no concussion symptoms. Thankfully at the next stoppage the medic gave me and the coach the all clear on the player. We went to double overtime and the Idaho team hit a game winner in the second overtime with 1.2 seconds left on the clock. A very close, very competitive game, and intense game. Both coaches were clean, fans good, and the players played their hearts out. Sad that a team had to lose both deserved to win. The heartbreak on the Utah team was met with my partner and I demanding they keep their heads up and not get too upset. They fought hard!
Well there ya go Cadre. Hope you all have a great weekend!
