Straight Shave # 179

Razor: Feather SS
Blade: Captain Mild Titan (7)
Soap/cream: Razorock Blue Fougere
Brush: Razorock Barrel Brush
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Razorock Blue Fougere

Oh wow what a shave today. I am a fougere fan, and this one is AWESOME!!! Razorock in my opinion does themselves a disservice selling it in a 10.4 oz block! Honestly WTH are they thinking??? I bit the bullet finally because I love fougere. I squeezed a little over 6 oz into this container and transferred the label. It doesn't look bad, but now I am left with 4 more oz what to do? Well I put it in the BST I don't want it to go bad, or lose it's awesome scent.

Anyways the lather was very good reminds me of the Razorock SMDF formula. So VERY GOOD! If you are a fougere fan I recommend this soap.

On my last pass I could feel the slightest irritation starting so eased up and took some extra time to get the BBS I wanted and then tossed the blade. Good stuff today gents good stuff!

Homefront

Well yesterday we had a wonderful dinner with my grandma, my parents, and Megan's mom over at our house for a small BBQ. I also booked our first camping trip so this coming Friday we will be heading up to the mountains for the weekend to relax (lol just kidding we have two kids) and enjoy the great outdoors. So during the week we will be loading up the trailer and I am really looking forward to our maiden voyage. I just hope everything goes well.

So at our church on sundays we have 4 church services. 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Every year on Mother's Day we knights hand out roses to mother's as they enter the church. I asked the current Grand Knight on Thursday if he needed help getting volunteers signed up to hand out roses. Well when I got to church early for the 9:30 mass so I could help hand out, I was advised that NO ONE handed out roses at 7:30 mass. Well this was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. I came unglued on the grand knight and advised him that I was not removing my hat from the ring, and that he should be ashamed of himself. I called around quickly and got some brother knights to fill in for the next couple masses and then had a quick meeting with the Priest to clear my mind and soul and the dragon has been released.

Have a good day Cadre.

Very cool to hear that camping will get underway soon. Excited to hear about it!

Originally I thought the Knights were like a service organization with some religious background. But it looks like you are also pretty integrated into the church. What's your elevator speech for when people ask you what the Knights are about?

The Knights is a fraternal organization founded on three main principles charity, unity, and fraternity. We have a 4th pillar that is patriotism. We serve in solidarity with our priests, to ensure that our parishes are ran smoothly. We help the parish where ever we can. We are the protectors of our faith. We go one step further and help catholic men broaden their individual faith, give them tools to help broaden the faith of their family, and are there as support for whoever needs it.

I usually then ask them to attend a meeting (the portion they can attend not as a member), and then gauge them on interest in joining the order.

Nice shave. I will have to pick up the RR BF.

I think you are doing the right thing by running for Grand Knight.

Great shaves. That is awful about the roses not getting passed out at the first mass. I can see why that was your tipping point.

Great read, Chad. I'm going to have to look at getting some of that Blue Fougere, as I'm a big fougere-head myself.

IRT the KoC situation, I kind of saw where that was headed right away. It's a shame that it's come to this, but you're doing the absolute right thing by standing your ground and sticking up for your brother knights and the community at large. From the sounds of it, you have the bull by the horns and they aren't going to know what hit them.

Thanks Don. And yes I was pretty upset that we had mother's go with out roses. We order these roses in February from Columbia at a great rate for Mother's day. They are flown in fresh on Friday before. We put a lot of effort into this, and ensuring that that the mothers are recognized.

Thanks Josh. I have gotten a few phone calls yesterday, from people that attend the 7:30 am mass, that last year voted for the current grand knight. They told me they will be voting for me.

Razor: Razorock SLOC
Blade: Gillette Nacet (1)
Soap/cream: Proraso Green
Brush: Stirling Finest Fan
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Proraso Green

Well today was a wonderful Proraso day, and the tub is getting lighter. This every other day business is hard work, but I am trying to stay committed to try and burn through some soaps that I have. I grabbed the Razorock SLOC again mainly because I want to see how other blades behave. And wow was this efficient. Definitely BBS.

Nothing crazy to report. It rained all afternoon and evening. But blue skies today. So today when I get home from work I will open up the trailer and we will start loading it up. This camping trip is happening and we are getting excited.

Have a good day Cadre.

Great shave. It can be difficult to use the same soap all the time, but seeing that empty tub at the end is worth it.

and the dragon has been released.

Thanks Doug. And you are right. But I am hoping for that empty tub!

Thanks Tom. My arm candy really helped put it together.

Nice entry Chad...at least you're able to tell that you're making progress on the Proraso.

Thanks Josh.

Razor: Razorock SLOC
Blade: Gillette Nacet (2)
Soap/cream: Mystic Waters Lily of the Valley
Brush: Maggard's Black Synthetic
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Avon Leather

Well I pulled out all my Mystic Water soaps and as I continue on the every other day adventure with Proraso Green I will also be re-visiting my MW. I have mentioned this in the past, many people for some reason can't lather MW and I'll be honest I have had my occasional problems, the soap can definitely be finicky. If you fall into that category order the Shave Stick! Not sure why but the soap for me seems to lather better in Stick Form. In fact so much so I have considered selling my tubs and replacing with sticks.

Anyways the shave today was exceptional, and this new Razorock Razor continues to amaze me. And as space is becoming a premium I think some more razors are going to hit the BST.

The Avon leather was a nice scent. See past tense... yup I think it lasted 30 min! That has to be the shortest longevity I have ever experienced from Avon. What a shame, it really is a nice scent.

Homefront:

Well yesterday I ran to the store and bought a new battery for the trailer and got everything hooked up, then opened her up to ensure the fridge was working. I have it plugged in so it is nice and cold, when we leave Friday. We also began to load up some of our gear and Connor's 4 year old excitement hit over drive! He wanted to load up EVERYTHING and started grabbing toys literally all his toys. He didn't understand that we are packing not leaving. Boy bed time was rough last night... he thought we were going to leave him. Hope it doesn't happen again tonight when we try and load in the bedding that is currently being washed.

Have a good day Cadre.

Great shave.

The only MW that I have is the first run of the Coconut Sandalwood, but it is a great performer for me. With all the MW love going around the past few days, I am tempted to pull it out.

Bummer that the Avon Leather didn't last longer.
