Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

What a weekend! Congrats on the plaudits and the positive networking that took place this weekend, and as for the spirits...that always makes for a good time and interesting morning.

Great shave and sounds like a good time!

Glad the trip went well!

Thanks Craig. Surely was.

Sounds like a fun, whirlwind weekend!

It must be quite exciting and humbling (and nerve racking) to have so many of your bretheren clamoring for you to continue moving up! You must be doing something right! Way to go!

Humbling and nerve racking indeed.

Homemade corn whiskey, sound interesting. Pretty nice your wife got a massage out of the deal.

I don't remember much after though of the corn whiskey that is/

Sounds like you had a great weekend.

Good idea to go with a nice, easy shave today.

Thanks Doug.

Are you saying there's just less ugly now than there use to be?

Holy smokes, Chad; lots going on with you while I was gone! Way to go on the weight loss!!!

That was a lot of good stuff to catch up on, Chad! So glad to hear the convention went so well for you. And congrats on the weight loss. I am still in the process myself, and I look forward to sharing my own success story in the future. I match you in height, but I had about 20 pounds on you at my heaviest.

Weight loss is VERY difficult in the more sedentary lives that we all tend to live. I know the struggle all to well. I am sure by some of other conversations your head is in the right place and you will come out on top.

Razor: El Jefe
Blade: Captain Mild Titan (1)
Soap/cream: CBL Cream Wolfman
Brush: Envy Shave Ute Brush
Aftershave1: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Avon Everest

Well today I am using the El Jefe form the passaround that John (the monkey) is putting on. I really enjoy using SE razors and wanted to try out the Jefe that is considered to be one of the more aggressive ones on the market. Well no lie there it is definitely aggressive. But I would argue after one use not as efficient as my beloved General. Time will tell as I continue to use it over the next couple of days.

The Cream from Chris actually performed very well. The scent seemed to dissipate rather quickly but I think these creams were more for proof of concept. Well Chris after using the creams you have sent me I would say concept proven.

I also used the Avon Everest that came to me via KJ (spider) and I must be honest the scent was not what I expected and while pleasant not a favorite out of the Avon lineup.

Homefront:

Well what a crazy night last night. Sunday night Sadie started acting fussy again and slept in our room. Well yesterday while with my grandma her appetite was down, and she was fussy all day. So when Megan picked up the kids she called an audible and said something isn't right she isn't acting normal. So a call to our doctor who said bring her now we will check her out. So I headed home and cooked dinner. Well doc said the ear infection is still there. Meaning the last round of antibiotics didn't kill it or it is a back to back ear infection. So Sadie is prescribed a stronger antibiotic. Amoxicillin makes her throw up. Cefdinir is what she was on before, and now she is on Augmentin at 7mg which is a LOT! She took her dose fine yesterday but this morning I think it triggered her gag reflex so we dealt with throw up. UGH! They want her on this antibiotic for 10 days. Then a follow up. Our pediatrician advised that after the ten days a decision will be made if we should visit an ENT, and consider ear tubes. It is so hard to see my little princess not feeling well. I hope we get answers to all of this.

Tonight is also my council's monthly meeting and it
is nominations time for offices. It could be a wild ride. I am expecting fireworks tonight.

Have a great Tuesday Cadre.

Dang, good thing kids are cute huh? Bummer the illnesses just seem to keep rolling in.

So what would be your favorite Avon scent now that I've started down THIS rabbit hole?

The lime is out of this world. Tai Winds is a winner.

Oland is fantastic.

Spicy smells like the Old Spice my grandpa used not the one in stores now.

Windjammer is also a favorite.

Did I narrow it down? Basically with Avon if you find a decanter you like with any juice in it, buy it. If you don't like the scent transfer to another bottle and sell it. Then you have the cool decanter you can clean out and put anther aftershave in like Aqua Velva etc.

I was not aware of an Avon "Everest" - interesting.

Hope your daughter feels better soon.

Honestly, I did not like it at first. It took me a while to come around to it, but now it's one of my favorites.

Sorry to hear about your girl’s health issues, prayers sent your way.

Good shaves! I am really liking the packaging on the Wolfman soap, it’s edges, sheik, it’s.. derelicte!

I recently ran across Avon Everest, it was in a semi truck decanter with a trailer attached which had the scented talc. I passed on it mostly because I don't need any more. If you or anyone else is dying to have it I am quite sure it's still sitting on the shelf at the "antique" store. I think she said it was $5 but could be double that. Not a bad price but ....

As to the ear infection. In my experience, both as a father and as a person working closely with pediatricians, the majority of ear infections don't actually need or respond to antibiotics. Those drops for pain are an absolute necessity in my opinion. Some doc's would say the ear infections had viral origins others would say anatomy played a major role. I don't know where the medical community stands now but sometime between my first kid and my last they had adopted a no antibiotics point of view. Instead, providing palliative care and watching. With or without antibiotics my kids always got the running nose and ear issues as they started teething.

I wish you luck with Sadies ears. What ever the cause or course of treatment those ear aches are the worst. ...I still remember having them as a kid.

Nice shave. I am trying to avoid the Avon rabbit hole even though I found a place that has a ton of it.

I hope that Sadie's ear infections clear up soon.

I've never been a big talc guy. I have some and have used it occasionally. Our doctor is usually always very hesitant to prescribe antibiotics which I honestly prefer, however when it comes to ear infections they ALWAYS default to antibiotics. My gut is telling me that Sadie actually has a mild allergic reaction to the penicillin family. It actually runs in my family. We are waiting for a call back and I think we are going to figure out how to confirm if that's the case and still possibly at least visit with an ENT. She has had a rough month going from small cold, to eye infection, to ear infection, right back to ear infection. Poor little thing needs relief.

Thank you Doug. And the Avon rabbit hole isn't that deep... that is unless you decide you want one of every decanter ever made.
