Well it's officially my last week of employment. Not sure if I like the fact I know what is going to happen or it's just making it worse. Regardless I guess I got a head start on the job search. Anyways I do have an internal interview set up for a different department this week so 4 interviews between thursday and friday. And honestly this is what I would prefer over leaving the company. After much thought and prayer this is the best option. Consistency, 30+ vacation, a good salary, and a new area of the business. I am hoping it works out. As to the external applications I have put in a few.

This last weekend was wonderful nice and warm and it felt like spring! Today we have snow in the forecast. The Palm Sunday service was exceptional and I I am looking forward to holy week. Mass on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

As to the shaves I went for a Honeybee soaps and I have a feeling this will take awhile to 3017, but I am up for the challenge at least I know I will have great shaves and smell great afterwards.

Have a great Day Cadre.

Thank you all for the continued thoughts and prayers. I was called into HR last Friday to answer a few questions about what I think most of my department will do. Meaning will they just take the package or will they look for other positions? I advised that the average tenure in my department is very high. So told them that most will probably take the package. They where shocked by this. Well yesterday I found out in order to try and encourage more to try and find other employment within and not have to pay out as many packages they are going to extend the 30 days continuing on payroll to look for another position to 120 days, before they pay out the lump sum. Honestly with that little nugget I think I might just take a month off as a sabbatical then start looking for jobs internally for about 45 days. Then extend out to external. I feel much better about this plan, and a little stress has been lifted. Obviously still interviewing this week for that other internal position so if I am offered then the sabbatical might not happen.

Oh yea the shave was good today.

Great to hear, Chad. As a finance guy they obviously under indexed the percentage of packages they'd have to pay out, so an extra 3 months beyond the initial 30 days is definitely a win for you. Obviously still extremely stressful but the additional time and your revised plan / timeline sound like a huge improvement.

Well here we are Holy Saturday. It is also my daughter's birthday so the day we celebrated her. It was a wonderful day.

As to the job Friday was essentially my last day worked there. Definitely in that position. However I did spend Thursday and Friday doing 4 interviews for another department that is as far away from the current department as possible. I have also been moved to the next step of interviews for an external position. I'm hoping one of these comes to fruition.

The shaves have also been wonderful.

Have a great Easter tomorrow cadre.

Happy birthday to the little one!

Glad you’ve got a bit of progress on the job front!

He is risen!

Okay sorry it has been awhile since I posted in my journal but life hit pretty hard, and we also where on vacation which was VERY MUCH needed.

Anyways the shaves have been great but not every day. The Honeybee soap is a great soap and may Sue RIP. She was one of our first artisans and she is greatly missed. The soap industry kind of passed her by but her product was consistent and I will be sad when I no longer have any more, but alas at least I have a good stash.

So anyways Tuesday while on vacation was the doomsday. The day I was laid off. Then literally 5 minutes after that call I got the email that our Cruise was being cancelled that we have in July. This is now the second cruise that was cancelled due to Covid and even though we are all vaccinated we said screw it and have gone through the long process of getting our money back from the cruise line.

Vacation was wonderful and we where with great company. I think everyone needed to get out of their respected houses and just enjoy a vacation. The kids had a blast and the adults did too. I can't wait to do it again.

The job search has been well interesting and I have officially entered the negotiation stage on a new job. It appears regardless I will be making more money then I did before and in all honesty that has to be a win. And there is still another opportunity that I am interviewing for that if I can somehow pull a rabbit out of my hat it would be like fast tracking my career path by about 5-8 years, it's a long shot, but I have been advanced to the next round. So after careful consideration with my wife. We have decided to essentially negotiate the new job offer which is still with old employer but in a completely different part of the business thus foregoing the severance lumpsum payment. Assuming everything works out there which I should have an answer later today hopefully I will be back to work sooner rather than later. And if by some miracle the other job ends up coming to fruition and the offer is what I expect it would be I would then leave the company on my own terms, and not theirs.

Anyways hope you all are doing well and I hope to catch up in the next few days.

Just got caught up on the last couple weeks' reading. You've got a lot on your plate, Chad. Sounds as though whichever job you land will be a plus. Best of luck! (y)

Just say that you were extended an offer. That is good news! Glad at least part of the search is over. Hoping the dream job works out for you!

I'm not going to lie it's going to take awhile to get fully caught up. But I wanted to get this posted.

On the shaving front I am still on the 3017 journey and really enjoying it. Don't really see a reason to go away from it. Even though I have nearly 400 soaps now. And every time I tend to use one up completely Chris tends to send me more. Speaking of which @CBLindsay Connor is loving the bath soap you sent him. But he did just ask me for blueberry scented the other day. Kids eh.

Anyways yesterday I finished the Honey Bee Soap and man that soap is good. I know its a melt and pour but it's still good. When I got down to the ring though it died QUICKLY! Today I started a Soap Commander soap. The Vision scent which is a nice clean refreshing scent. It probably already has 15 shaves on it. And I expect this to last awhile.

Started my new job on Monday and all is well there. Even though my golf game will probably suffer because of working. Darn work anyhow! During the time off we made some adjustments to our savings plans and retirement accounts seeing as we are making significantly more money then we where 5 years ago. I want to be retired when I hit 50, or at least be in a stage of my life where I don't need to be working in careers like I am now. Being laid off was truly eye opening and really put things into perspective. I feel like a brand new man because of it. Couple that with some other spiritual journeys I have been on 2021 is shaping up to still be the year of Chad. Now only if I can get out of this weightloss rut I am have been in for a few weeks. Just maintaining but it will fall off soon.

Anyways hope you all are well.
