CBLindsay's brain droppings

Hiding spaces are definitely something we learn to value. I sort of have a closet in my sons room for my stuff but it is full of my wifes stuff. I learned to put stuff in bags and hang them on hangers, keeps it of the floor and safe.

California politics is unlike any other state (or country) that's for sure. From time to time i get frustrated by the divergence in my philosophy and that of those in power but I have meds for that, I get them from Canada. I have made it clear...I will vote for any candidate that promises to reverse the plastic bag ban. I still come unglued when I am asked if I want to buy a bag. Since none of the candidates are making such a promise I guess I'll vote for the ones that promise to undo the recent gas tax & car registration abuse ...

Sounds like it's been Chris's animal house lately! Hopefully things start to slow down for you. Nice to see that you'll be getting some additional storage space, if SWMBO doesn't bogart it first!

No comment on the Cali politics in order to stay within TOU. LOL

Don't forget to call DIBS on the new real estate. Space is a commodity and a lot of times we lose out. LOL

No comment on politics as well for me. I just look at who's running our country and........... *I'll stop here*

Well Chris, it doesn't sound like you have much of a choice to vote for. Just pick the guy with the best shave.

STILL straight Shave 861

Dirty Harry -26mm tuxedo synthetic in custom handle
Musgo Glyce -orange amber
The General -Feather Pro X?
TF&H post shave balm (cedar/sandalwood)
Cuba Black

Well, I forgot to set the alarm last night so I woke up about a half hour late. I wish I could blame it on the muscle relaxer I took last night, but I can't...It did nothing for me. Because of the time crunch I opted to do a quick and dirty shave with no expectation of anything more than a socially acceptable CCS. Oh how I was wrong...

I jumped in the shower and did my usual quick shower with a quick face lather using the shower synth (copper pipe with a 20mm timberwolf synthetic knot) and the puck of SCS rose I have stashed in there. Since I didn't have a chance to bloom the Jeeves as I had planned, I opted to just rub the Musgo Glyce pre-shave soap on and lather it with the synth. The lather that was formed was super slick but lacked density (cushion?) so I decided to grab the General and give it a WTG. Quick rinse and another rub of Musgo ...again a quick lather but this time with more density...XTG. With a brush still full of some residual Musgo lather I just squeezed it out and rubbed it on for a third pass ATG.

After a good cool water rinse I inspected my face only to find I was smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy (STAFJS). In the rush to get in and out I managed to deal myself a quality shave. I was mindful not to apply pressure and to let the blade do the work ...and I was rewarded with a most excellent outcome. Who knew?

Armed with the knowledge that a the simple pre-shave soap (Musgo Glyce) is capable of such greatness I am inclined to continue to use it as a pre-shave application. I figure it can only improve the performance of the lather.

Political update...
The unimaginable has happened, Voters have put a couple of polar opposites on the ballot for governor. Rumor has it that the "republican" candidate is a Chicago Democrat in disguise as a moderate/right leaning republican. I have no idea what the true leanings of either candidate truly are but I think it is exciting to have some choices. Because the "republican" candidate has been endorsed by the president, I am betting the money spent to defeat him will be substantial ...and if he is ultimately elected is would represent a unique mandate.
On another note, a friend and one-time business partner of mine has been elected county controller. The county I live in is HUGE. It is larger than 9 states and has more people in it than 14 states ...heck, it's bigger than Switzerland! I don't think its size changes the job much but I expect I won't be able to call my friend for tax advice anytime soon.

And regarding the new storage space...I made clear the moment I said "Yeah, it looks ok" that the extra space is MINE all MINE. And she acknowledged I would have the space so long as i didn't use it for bottles of crap. She said nothing about tubs of soap, brushes, razors and "stuff".

Sometimes the simplest shaves are the best shaves! Musgo is on my short list of items to try though.

Well our state is getting ready to elect a US Senator who only has a WINTER home here, and is from Massachusetts. You might know him as Mitt Romney.... but the powers that be here that control the lemmings like him because he's mormon.

Wow...what a wonderful shave with the most simple and unlikely of sources. I wonder if Musgo when combined with a normal high-grade soap would increase the quality of the shaves.

It is for tmes like these that I keep the ATT SE2 locked and loaded on my counter. Excellent result.

I recognize that name. As far as I am concerned any guy who winters in UTAH deserves to call himself a Ute. If I had the choice I might try to avoid the cold winters ...although Massachusetts probably isn't any better. Don't forget, Mitt is a pretty wealthy guy and everyone loves the guy with the money. I think all politicians pass through Massachusetts at some point, it's like they go there to develop the politician accent.

Utah might claim Mitt but California gets to claim credit for Nancy Pelosi. She hasn't had a real challenge or participated in a public debate since 1987 yet she routinely gets 80% of the votes. How it is that she amassed a networth of of nearly $30m on a Senator's salary I will never know. I know her $30m is chump change to Mitt but its a lot of money. More than 30 years in politics and mega wealthy ...If she isn't out of touch with the realities of today I don't know who is.

Good stuff, CBL; even the political comments.

I have three packs of the Musgo pre-shave on hand. I might test this out as well.

Great reads. I feel like the warning about what to put in the new storage space is much like the do not remove tag on mattresses.

Catching up Chris!

Other than the honing injury, the sub par soap performance, and the getting up late (I did the same thing this week) great stuff!

Straight Shave #864

Sorentino TSC Legacy Brush
CBL Brut Fougere beta 3 base
Challenger near wedge
Pinaud Clubman reserve Gin & Gents
Penhaligon's Love potion #9

I didn't post an entry into my journal on Friday (6/8/18) but I did do a narrated video which was posted in the member video section ...check it out if you like. After my shave on Friday I packed up a pillow case and drove to The Great Wolf Lodge to meet up with my wife and girls. My wife picked up my oldest daughter from school on Thursday and headed straight to the beach (Dana Point) to stay the night, then packed up and went to the wolf lodge water park for another 2 days of fun.

Needless to say, I decided not to shave Saturday and I was so busy Sunday I didn't have an opportunity ...so today I was shaving off 3 days of growth. I chose the Challenger near wedge for the task, when removing 3 days growth a heft blade must be used. This razor was a real booger to get honed but it is now honed so well I just LOVE the way it shaves. It came with some decent spine wear but my early honing techniques resulted in a BUNCH more wear being added ...oh well, it shaves the way I like.

I have decided the next week or so I will be using mostly CBL soaps I have made. Some are one off experiments, some are soaps I have shared out samples and some were made as a special request by someone. Today's soap was my rendition of brut fougere, it is definitely strongly scented but I don't know if it is a Brut match. The soap performs well and seems to be better now that it is a year older. The TSC legacy brush was quick to lather and provided a solid amount of lather for the task. KJ mentioned the springyness of the brush and also mentioned how it feels or behaves different once loaded with lather ...I echo those sentiments, the brush has a whole new, desirable, feel as it fills with lather.

The Shave was pretty much awesome, 3 passes with a minor amount of touch up. Something about shaving a multi day beard just feels great.

I did shoot a SOTD photo, hope y'all like it.

Oh yeah, I have one huge puck of the CBL fougere up for grabs. I have had this puck hanging out in my drawer just waiting to be passed on. If this kind of scent excites you speak up.
