Some very excellent shaves and reads to catch up on, Chris! I am very interested in the performance of the soap using the hemp oil. I know my wife's favorite skin lotion uses it, and that stuff is very moisturizing. I am also looking forward to the test results, as I know that some varieties of hemp oil can lead to a positive test for THC when they are ingested.
If I recall correctly, a RazoRock soap sold last year had hemp oil in it. Of course the conjecture as to whether it would cause a false positive or not was rampant but few made any comment as to whether the soap was worth the effort. From my experience making soaps and my basic understanding of what each oil might contribute to the lather, the hemp oil should be plenty conditioning but not very much different from more "normal" oils such as grapeseed or sunflower and safflower. Perhaps it's benefit is as label dressing. I do know that, if used in too high a concentration it (like grape, safflower and sunflower) theoretically will kill a lather. The fact I have made a soap using about 1.5% added hemp oil that lathers well and stable proves it can be used at that level.I have a soap at home made from hemp oil and it lathers and by all accounts looks like a puck of Col. conks. I dont remember the name though but it is very low tier 2 soap for me.
I also gave my ailing sulcata tortoise some of the hemp oil blended with various other green stuff.

We do indeed have a torti, it is about 6 years old now. Until this spring it was an eating machine and gre quick. Now it is completely off food (other than what we force feed it) and is wasting terribly. No idea what is causing it because the usual potential causes dont seem to be the issue. You have a tortoise? That's so cool. Don't tell Badger Babe, or she might come steal it!
Sorry it's not doing well. Hopefully the oil treatment helps. We do indeed have a torti, it is about 6 years old now. Until this spring it was an eating machine and gre quick.
