Man am I tried. This morning was a tough one to handle, I almost decided to forego the shave because I was so groggy. To kick up my prep game I included a quick face lather in the shower along with the normal hot water wash. I had bloomed the old puck so it was more than ready to give up some its precious soapy goodness to the silvertip brush. I really enjoy the "old soap" scent these vintage jobs have and this one was full of it. Unfortunately, this soap never performs the way my other vintage stuff does. The lather can be a little light/airy but it does tighten up if done right, this morning the lather worked out fine. Even with the decent lather this soap just didn't wow me today. I might consider selling this one off, seems collectors like the cool retro bakelite dish it is in...it's very art deco.

The razor performed well enough given the average lather. I managed to break the skin in a couple spots when the edge lost lubrication but the damage was quite minimal. The shave turned out okay, BBS but not glassy like yesterday.

Today is my dads birthday so I will be taking him to lunch after he gets his massage down the hall from my office. He turns 71 today, old by some standards but very young compared to many of my clients. My son's birthday is tomorrow (turns 22) and my daughter's birthday is Monday (turns 9) so the next few days is one birthday thing after another.

Bummer about that soap performance, at least you salvaged the shave somewhat!

Enjoy the afternoon out with your dad! Mine just turned 70 last year and finally retired. He’s definitely feeling his age since then!

Sorry to hear about the sub-par, though still BBS shave Chris. Sounds like it's going to be a "good" busy over the next few days. Always better than the "bad" busy. Have fun with the family functions!

Damn a lot of good birthdays! Enjoy the time with the family!

Murphy on the thumb is another level stuff, Chris! Glad it wasn't worse than it is.

Enjoy all the birthday celebrations and don't fill up on cake

What do you mean, "don't fill up on cake"? It's birthday cake - made for over consumption with reckless abandon! I hope the cakes have lots and lots of icing!

He has young kids, it's a reflex.

My thought is, oh no, that's a lot of presents to figure out!

Enjoy the Birthday-Palooza Chris. Sorry about the love bite, but enjoyed the video right up until the fateful event. I attempted using my 8x2x1/2 Black Ark in the palm once. Not enough control open palmed, and not enough stone to grab without getting a digit in the way.

Catching up Chris, hope you are enjoying the festivities and your B-day Cake Coma

So...the last few days have been interesting. On Saturday my wife an I went looking at a couple of bedroom sets she had her eye on. I was fine with the first one but she had to see the other one and we ended up getting that one. I think the mattress we picked at the first place was probably a better quality but we saved a little cash going with the second one so I will sleep better knowing that. The good news is I will net a solid 4 extra drawers to store stuff (code word...my stash) and a couple of thin drawers that would do a great job of storing my razor collections.

I had planned to do a Sunday shave video highlighting some of my "new" stuff but things went downhill quick ...and stayed there. Afternoon became evening and I snuck away to see about doing the whole hot towel prep and shave. I was forced to abandon the video because my "private" time was not going to happen ...and I don't like the hot towel thing. The shave turned out good enough to allow me to skip a real shave yesterday (I did a minor touch up in the shower with the General), I was BBS most of the day but had a good amount of stubble for this morning's shave. I'll have to push off the planned video for Friday morning when I will be ALONE.

This morning's shave was nice enough, I'm BBS and happy so I can't complain. Not much to expand on ...so I wont.

Some Random thoughts from a total random guy...

Today is voting day here in California ...thank GOD the insanity will be over soon (for a few months). The governors field has a couple dozen "fantastic" options to choose from. This has been an interesting season, we have a couple of more well known democratic candidates who are hurling mud at each other (which makes it fun) and a couple of well funded republicans who are making a good showing. Unlike many states, Cali has a unique primary set up that allows the top two vote getters to rn against each other in November ...this usually means 2 democrats since California hasn't had a republican governor since Pete Wilson (Arnold was ...soemthing else). This time it looks like we might have a far left democrat and a far right republican on the final ballot. I don't know who will win or lose but I get the feeling things are about to get very interesting. *to stay within the TOU I have elimiated further description of the current California political environment from my journal*

Interesting is a good way to describe CA in general. We’re kind of the red headed step child of the States in some things lol.

Glad you got a shave in, even if it wasn’t the alone time you wanted.

I think the mattress we picked at the first place was probably a better quality but we saved a little cash going with the second one so I will sleep better knowing that.

Lol. Even if the bed quality is less, just the fact you saved money will make up the sleep difference! I like that reason!

He's alive! Sounds like the stash will have the opportunity to grow with the new hiding spots being added.

I saw online that my vote by mail ballot is set to be delivered today. Not much going on here at that front.

Glad there is a shaving stuff expansion plan in the works Chris. I have completely run out of space with my knives and other stuff, and I even purchased a hutch specifically to store my knives in. In order to fix the current condition, I must make two more shelves for my three shelf hutch, then I can put everything I own in it and free up some drawer space in the bedroom to catch the overflow. Luckily, razors do not take up a great deal of space.

All I can say about the gubernatorial race in Cali. is good luck!

Hmmm, you got me thinking about stash space, and just in time. I have no more drawer space for my last mail calls. My wife mentioned wanting a new bed frame last week, but we can't do the ones with built in drawers. Well, without finding other places to keep the wrapping paper and archery bows. BUT, there is certainly space for me to slide another plastic tub or two under there!
