Thanks, Kyle. Alfredo put it in some real nice bone shoes. I can't find a before pic, which were green plastic scales that I knew would be replaced when I picked up the razor. These are prefect. I'm going to see if the strop returned the "favor" and killed the edge shortly. It still shaves arm hair, so I think it will be good enough for me. I can almost shave with a butter knife. lol.

I've been working on my first go at bone scales. I have never worked with a material that make more dust than bone so far lol.

It's my second favorite scale material, after tortoise. Alfredo has mentioned how dust it can be making these. But I love the solid, dense feel of the the bone. And Alfredo made these as thin as he could, which I really like. If bone is too thick, it's real heavy.

yeah. i don't doubt that. Thin is going to be my goal as well. Hopefully it works out.

Today will be the second shave with the Riga Strop Killer. It shaved just fine yesterday. I am always amazed by the resiliency of straight razor edges. They can take a whole lot more abuse than you would expect, apparently including cutting strops practically in half. Or, perhaps, this edge really is toast for most wet shavers, but I just don't know better. I'm all types of snob, I know it, but I'm no edge snob.

Or you just have an iron face. There was that YouTuber that could shave quickly with the most aggressive stuff out there. Never bothered him at all.

I'm pretty sure it cuts and bleeds like skin, but I'm not picky about edges. I did a shave test with Alfredo years ago, trying to determine if I could tell the difference between identical razors honed to different grits (I couldn't) or with different shaving angles (I like 'em narrow or wide, it doesn't matter a bit).

Shoes, otoh . . . .

"Same Time, Next Monday" would be a good title for my relationship with TOG. For years she was my Monday razor. Just a little something special to start a day I typically (and perhaps tritely) don't care for. I'd write you a song about it, but that's almost trite too. I've missed a couple of Mondays with TOG, because I couldn't get a good edge on her. But now she's back from RI, and she's got a wonderful, new jnat edge. So, on this the first Monday on which I have no work in over 30 years, I will re-ignite our Monday love affair. Woopee!

You never got the 3-day holiday weekends? That stinks!

Enjoy the new found freedom Larry!

Off to Florida for a couple of days. I'm bringing the Feather, because my traveling imps didn't feel like joining. I love the results I get from shaving with the feather, but "soul-less" is apt.
