Brew's Foul Concoction

Mmm the curves on that Riga!
Thanks, Chris, I agree! It's a super sexy razor, but was in some awful plastic scales. I was amazed by the incredible edge it came with, but the scales were a real turn off. They also had a pointy pivot end that jabbed me in the fingers. I set the razor aside shortly after I got it, in the "For Alfredo" pile. I knew he would fix it. Now I can't wait to get it back. It checks all of my razor requisites, save one: no bottom jimps.

I've had a chance to use the new Filson jacket for a while now. Another great Filson garment. I've had two of their vests for a couple of years now. One is wool, the other moleskin. Both wear like iron. The new wool coat is no different. Very simple design, but really warm convenient to wear. Another example of getting what you pay for, which is nice to have happen.

The new suede shoes are prefect. Not a thread or stitch out of place. I love Allen Edmonds shoes, but when they arrive I need to take a lighter to them to burn off all the poorly finished threads and stitches. Drives me nuts. Not so with Alden. You get what you pay for.

I wonder if there's a "Stuff that's Worth It" thread?

You should start one ;)
Hear hear!

Of course, I’d probably never get to post in it since I'm usually looking for the “Stuff pretty much the same as the stuff that’s worth it but for a lower price” person...but I’ll certainly pop in to drool! 🤤

I did the same thing to my Tony Miller Notovan about a month after I got it. It made me a sad panda.

Ive had this for years. I don't think it can be fix or used any more. ugh

The offending razor was a new honed and scaled Riga razor, just back from @Doc226 . double drat

I'm sure that can at least be made usable again.
That cut almost goes thru. If I trim it and sand, the uneven surface on the side will cause the razor to dip as it passes, just inviting more damage. I'd rather not risk losing a razor to add to my carelessness. This one has been retired. PM me, though, if you'd like it. I"m happy to pass it along, if you'd like to try to save what was a great piece of horse butt.

The return of my favorite razor, The Old Gal, did not disappoint. What a great, comfortable shave. Like meatloaf and lumpy mashed potatoes, comfort food in a shave. I'll have seconds shortly. Have a nice day.

Ah it didin't that deep in the pic. I'd love to try and salvage it but i think my wife might kill me if i brought home a bunch of leather working tools right now lol.
