Date: Monday August 27th

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (7)
Brush: Eric Sorrentino Cadre Brush/Cashmere Knot
Soap: Ballenclaugh Honey & Tobacco
Aftershave 1: Thayers Cucumber
Aftershave 2: Nivea 2 in 1 Aftershave

3rd time is a charm I guess. Smashed what was left of the sample in the bottom of the copper bowl and loaded the damp brush to face lather as I prefer. Got an awesome lather and enough for all 3 passes with still more in the bowl to do another shave or start my Clown Puke Soap Tub. The scent has grown on me so I may get a tub down the road. Trying to curb the buying lately as I’ve been on a spree for awhile and have more then enough for my variety cravings…………………….if I only quit reading about and watching what y’all are using. Got a splendid BBS with the 6c and GSB on shave #7. On to the Nivea 2 in 1 aftershave. When NurseDave talked about it having alcohol and after a rough shave not wanting to use it because of the possible sting I wondered about it. At least that’s what I remember I think. I must say, no sting and went on feeling not greasy but felt soothing like a balm. I was concerned it would be tacky feeling but it settled and dried down to a soft feeling. Great moisturizing affect with this, it’s a keeper.

Have an early morning for work so hope the Cadre all have a great evening !!

Great stuff Dave, glad to hear that you were finally able to get the lather dialed in with the Ballaclaugh! I wish they would start selling that 2-in-1 over in the states!

Glad you got the Ballenclaugh dialed in. I think it is a pretty darn good soap...maybe not the absolute best...but that is a scent I really like and the rest of the soap is pretty good too! It's actually a pretty good value at $16.00 for 5.5 oz. Well, at least a better value than some that have been coming out lately!

Alright alright, we need a supreme court of the cadre to give official opinions on products. I feel the 2 in 1 is very drying, you say moisturizing. So I'm now curious what made us each come to the conclusion we did. I did feel it resulted in an extremely smooth skin. And it does soak in/evaporate totally, so there is no stickiness at all left. I figure I'm basing my judgement of it being drying to the skin on that there is no feeling of a lotion or anything. I suppose I would have to NOT apply something after it and see how my skin felt hours later. Interesting also you felt no sting, I'll have to give it a shot on a rougher shave. Since it disappears so quickly and gets so cold, I have to assume that's the result of alcohol.

I must be missing out. I skipped on the Nivea craze even though it was highly recommended when I first started. Oh well.... Did use their shave cream for a bit but still prefer proraso green in a tube. Oh minty fresh.

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (8)
Brush: 26mm Paladin Chief Harlequin
Soap: Storybook Soapworks Hallwords Dream
Aftershave 1: Humphrey’s Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Storybook Soapworks Hallwords Dream

After the great shave yesterday I thought to myself, Self, let’s do another. Have 3 new to me Storybook Soapworks Sets to add to Hook so after seeing so many enjoying Hallwords Dream I went with it. It smells like………………….heck I don’t know. I’ll leave that to you professionals but I did dig the scent and enjoyed the shave. Shave #8 on the GSB and it may have more in it but I like new sharp blades and binned it after the shave. The aftershave dried down nice the way I like so as Tim of the Crated Milk Clan would say everything was, “Right as Rain”. Hope everyone in the Cadre has had a good day and a better evening !!

And Nivea fever sweeps the Cadre...
Gotta getcha some

At least it's easy enough to get on the bay, although would be cheaper if in the states

Absolutely agree

Great read Dave, I am also being tempted by that soap and wanting a purchase!
You !! I'm shocked you are wanting a soap of all things !!!!!

Maybe it was my mad shaving skills and the moisturizing of the soap. I calls them as I sees them.

Proraso is good stuff

Nice stuff Dave! I enjoyed Hallward's Dream as well,...good stuff!
Thanks Josh ! Actually enjoying all the scents (4) I got of Storybook Soapworks now.

Date: Wednesday August 29th

Razor: Gillette New Short Comb
Blade: Pol Silver SI (1)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Synthetic
Soap: Storybook Soapworks Elysium
Aftershave 1: Humphrey’s Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Nivea 2 in 1
Aftershave 3: Storybook Soapworks Elysium

Afternoon shave and tried a new to me used Gillette New Long Comb razor. (See Dave I do have other razors to use, I just don't like them) If I'm calling it the wrong name, please let me know as I'm NO professional on these. Had a rough shave and don't know if it was the razor or this is a bad batch of Pol Silvers I got with the boat load of wet wax on them. Switched the blade to the 6c for in the morning to clean up today's mess before going out and see how the blade acts in the Rockwell. Since it was a rough shave I decided to try the Nivea again as NurseDave and I felt differently about it...................yep, sting this time with the rough shave. I guess last time was too smooth a shave to feel anything. It definitely goes on feeling thicker then a splash and more like a balm to me and leaves me feeling soft skinned. Will pile on and add the SS Splash for scent in a minute. Hope all are doing well and having a good day. Tomorrow I'm taking the day off from work. After relaxing with coffee and perusing the forum in the morning, I'll get my shave in and I'm heading to 2 Antique stores an hr away in Berea,KY that I haven't been to in quite awhile to see what they have. I'll post things I see if wanted in case there's something someone wants. Hey, there's a new Idea.......shopping MO by KJ sending pics of what's at all the good stores he goes to in his state as he seems to have better success. While he's going down the aisles he can post in a thread and 1st person posting they want it gets it. He buys and ships after getting paypaled the cost plus shipping. He could be the forums personal shopper. Any seconds to the motion ??

Have a GREAT day Cadre !!

LOL, a personal antique shopper sounds fun. By the way, that's a short comb NEW.

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Pol Silver SI (2)
Brush: Stirling 2 Band Synthetic
Soap: A&E Revolution
Aftershave 1: Thayers Cucumber
Aftershave 2: A&E Revolution

Had a shave to clean up the rough shave and stubble left from yesterdays mediocre shave. Great lather and tools took care of everything. Whatever went wrong yesterday was corrected this morning. I feel good and smell great....................if I do say so myself. Lazy day today to calm the voices in my head doing some antique stores an hour away That I haven't visited in a year or more. Hoping to spot some "In the Wild" Avon or other interesting artifacts. No pic today as I forgot since I shot another very amateur video that is attempting to load to google photo. Then seeing if I can get it uploaded to the Tube. Will be later today if the planets align and it works.

Hope all in the Cadre have a great day !!

Nice easy shave today Dave! Glad you got the old whiskers cleaned up. Hope you spot some good Avon (not that Wild country stinky stuff) and maybe some other good things!

Nice couple of shaves, Dave, though I'm sorry to hear about the rough one yesterday. Good luck on the Avon search!
