Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

So why after having a nice comfortable shave this morning and still feeling smooth faced do I have this urge to go and have another shave ??

Date: Sunday August 26th

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (6)
Brush: Stirling 2 Band Synthetic
Soap: Ballenclaugh Honey & Tobacco
Aftershave 1: Humphrey’s Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: Proraso

So I used my camera that I thought would sit on the 2nd shelf and be at eye level for a better angle but it wouldn't download because of some error or something so it was a no go. I better stick with the phone and just try to get the angle correct and be sure there is enough space on it. Sorry guys. Nice quick smooth shave today. Tried to do a better job with the soap and got a good lather but think I can get it even better. I need to use a little more product then I did although I still had some at the bottom of the bowl. I think I will just put the rest in there and give it a go tomorrow and even further if any remains in the bowl until it's gone. I like the scent. If I'm smelling the tobacco, which I'm sure I am because scent strength is plenty, I don't know what they smell like. I definitely get the honey scent nice and strong. I like it so it will be a tub purchase at some point. So I won the Bingo and will try to get the next game going in short order after googling how to generate the cards and calls. Gonna keep it simple like me so I hope it doesn't bore people. I could always let the monkey John make the calls. Hope everyone in the Cadre is having a great weekend !!

Good shave today Dave! How I have been doing my loading and lathering out of the bowl is that I have put a healthy amount of soap in my Captain's Choice bowl. I will spread it out in the bowl so that it covers most of the three rings from the center. I then commence to load and lather. All right there in the same bowl. It's been working for me.

Congrats on winning bingo! Looking forward to your game!

Nice one Dave! Sounds like the scent is a winner for you, now to just load it like you hate it!

Thanks guys. I put what I normally would in a bowl. Used my copper one. Like I said, I still had product in there, actually a good amount, so there was enough. I probably should have just worked it more. Having my glasses off so I couldn't see and no coffee yet, half awake probably didn't help. That and rushing it thinking I was on video and trying to speed it up. I'm confident I'll nail it tomorrow when I quit slacking and give it a fair chance.

I’ve had that issue a couple of times and it reminds me to spread the soap thinner in the bowl so it all loads on the brush.

Nice pic! Digging the new car. Now you’ve got something new to collect!

Congrats on winning bingo! The badge looks good on ya!

Good SOTD!

Looking forward to your bingo game! You may walk away with the name Crazy Calls Dave, just sayin.

Nice pic! Digging the new car....

Thanks Chris, KJ is an enabler. Right now I'm watching wax floors dry between recoating them,................yeah, it's the same as watching paint dry......
