Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Voskhod (4)
Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
Soap: CFG Ghost Town Barber
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: CFG Ghost Town Barber

Edit: Was rushed yesterday after my relaxing evening shave so popped back to do a brief recap this morning. Using the 6c I've gone back to plate 4. Some say the 6c is slightly more aggressive then the 6s on a similar plate. I haven't noticed that but 4 is more mindless as far as the need to pay attention. Hard to compare as the 6s isn't in the house currently to go back and forth. I'll do a comparison in the future at some point. I will say that getting an early start this morning 8 hours later I am still smooth faced and the skin is feeling soft and I still smell the GTB. May need an extra douse before heading out of the house though just because. I'm sticking with the GTB for awhile but the 3017 is gonna be hard to stick with for 2 reasons. 1) I LOVE variety and picking just before the shave what I'm in the mood for and 2) I've got brand new soaps in the den and more on the way, so would like to give them a try. We'll see how long my will power lasts......................not my strong suit.

Have a great Day Cadre !!

May need an extra dose? You mean douse yourself in it before leaving for the day.

Fixed, since that's what it was anyway. Thanks

Another smooth shave. I miss the variety but there is something to be said for using the same outfit for awhile and dialing everything in. Well oiled machine.
Hope the Cadre has a sublime day !!

I gotta tell you about this awesome soap I just received! You have got to try it!

JK, great reads and good luck on the 3017!

Nice to see that Voskhod going strong! (I refuse to comment on the GTB...

Unless there's a bonus in the paycheck, I see no reason to torture yourself with the 3017, espeially with "brand new soaps in the den and more on the way".

So I actually attempted a video with the phone propped up on the shelf. After the shave I see nice shot of the ceiling. I'll try another on another day and pay more attention and see if I can at least knock 1 out. Voskhod on shave 6 and no issues. Love this Cashmere Knot. It's my 1st one and it is a soft as they come but the density of the fibers make it perform great. Mulling options in my head for another couple while I save up some funds for them.

Have a GREAT day Cadre !!

Yes. This.

Part of the joy of 3017 is really getting to know the product and get the most out of it. It also gives a chance to try several different hardware combinations on the product. 3017ing can be fun.

Great shave Dave! Even if you are using that horrid smelling stuff!?

Your brush is absolutely stunning!

Same same setup here. Shave 7 on the Voskhod. Nice smooth shave until the final ATG pass on my neck. Literally my last 2 strokes and I felt it dig in out of no where. Binned the blade after the shave. Not that bad a nick but blood thinners have me looking like a stuck pig. What don't kill, makes ya stronger. Got a deal popped up on BST for a scalloped .68 baseplate for the Timeless and I nabbed it. Gonna have them ship it to NurseDave to give a try when he test drives the Timeless and it'll be more mild for him. Always wanted to compare it to the Open Comb. Now I'll be able to. At half the price of new I couldn't pass it up. Have a great day Cadre !!

Nice shave, Dave. I've been having the same experiences with blades lately. Trying to push them a little further, and then out of nowhere they want to bite--particularly ATG.

Nice snag! I think I was looking at the same sale... if so, great deal!

I have literally NEVER had one dig like this before out of nowhere. Almost like it caught a wart and just stopped, and I ain't got no wart there. Thanks for the read and comment

awesome pick up Dave on the Timeless baseplate. It always nice to get something at half the cost. I like Voskhod blades...they are smooth, but I don't think the last long.
