Bourbon Country Shave Journal - Dave in KY

Do you want to borrow a Fatboy and MMOC until they get back?

No thanks, I'm fine while he waits

Well a razor called Cubano, a soap called Revolution, and a setting of 7. That's a sure fire set-up for an uprising!

Razor: Slim Adjustable (5 Setting)
Blade: Pol Silver SI (5)
Brush: Paladin Harlequin
Soap: Ariana & Evans Revolution
Aftershave 1: Thayers Cucumber
Aftershave 2: Ariana & Evans Revolution

Another evening shave. Tried my original Slim to compare. Still felt a little rough of a shave so I binned the blade but I normally get more shave from these. Maybe I'm using more pressure with the lighter vintage razors that I am not so used to anymore. Loving the soap and the aftershave seems good but still actually prefer the Chiseled Face to this. A&E leaves me feeling a little sticky or tacky and doesn't seem to soothe as well. May just be me but that's how it feels.

Have a great evening Cadre !!

Glad they're heading home TJ. What finishes did you get or do you want to save that info for your reveal ?

I honestly have no earthly idea what the finished product is going to be. I wanted a very “Old West” “Ghost Towny” look and gave them creative free reign so to speak. I believe an oiled bronze look will be on the MMOC and that combined with an antique brass look on the Fatboy. We shall see probably Monday or Tuesday

Wow, you're the trusting sort. Sometimes giving that kind of freedom gets you a hit out of the park. Sounds like they're gonna be gorgeous. Looking forward to the pics and hope it is everything of what you hoped for.

We discussed my basic vision for them and I believe we were both on the same page. We shall see soon

I've had some of those "liquid balms" before and had the same result. Before pushing it to the back of the shelf, maybe try mixing it more water in hand, or if you've got a straight up menthol aftershave splash, mix it with that. I use Fine Snake Bite often that way.

Razor: Rockwell 6c Plate 4
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Paladin Harlequin
Soap: CFG Ghost Town Barber
Aftershave 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla
Aftershave 2: CFG Ghost Town Barber

Well I have a not so desperate situation but it's new to me. I have finished pucks/tubs of soap but have never 3017'd one. Purposely using to get it finished. While a friend was over and wanted to see the shave stuff and trying to get to a particular tub the stack which I knew was getting high and wobbly came down and only 1 casualty............you guessed it. My beloved GTB got a crack in the tub. I feel it is my duty to get this one finished so I can move on to the new backup soap and splash and of course then acquire another backup. So no guarantees but am going to try to get to the bottom of the tub in short order. The offenders picture looking about half gone if I had to guess.

So onto todays shave after a wet day doing a large house for a return customer that was insistent that the fact that it's raining didn't matter as long as there wasn't any lightning.(Most people getting there windows cleaned prefer dry weather) Who am I to argue. But I was glad to get done, home,a haircut, a nice shower, shave and a beer. I'll pst pics from the front porch in the "what's in front of you" thread.

I know some just don't care for this stuff but if I had to pick a loan Soap/AS to use, this would be it and the aftershave is absolutely and unequivocally my favorite for scent and face feel. Put a new Voskhod in the 6c with plate 4 and got an effortless shave and feel like a million bucks.

Hope all in the Cadre are having a spectacular day !!

Good stuff! I didnt realize you were a Transparent Wall Technician.
Hey, I like that. Yeah when I moved south, no one would hire a Northerner. Started my own cleaning business and now they all employ me anyway for the past 30 years. I do mostly windows and some wax floors. Can't find anything else that pays as well or I'd work for someone else. I should have stayed in school.

Well GTB is one of the soaps I won't mind seeing repeated day after day.

Back in the day I had a Mustang convertible and was at that point where I washed and waxed it religiously. Now this is Oregon where there's always a light mist in the air. And I would be out there washing my car. When people asked why, I'd just say "it's going to be wet, but now it's clean and wet".

Well, bummer about the cracked container, but just slap some duct tape on it. Definitely gotta dig the GTB!

Well, it's ruined now.... might as well throw it away!

Or you could have them send you a new tub and just transfer the contents? 3017s are just torture!
Torture? maybe but I may give it a shot until the variety bug bites me.
Great pics and reads Dave! Well ... except for the poor GTB.

Well it is half gone. I thought of duct tape but when I told the wife I need to go thru it and get another set, it seemed logical to her so who am I to argue when she thinks I need to get more soap and splash
